Somebody was trying to get into something and was told, "You need the Immediate Access Code." I thought that sounded kinda cool, like for any tough situation and you're trying to figure out the solution, and how do we get the answer without having to take a special course or learn a foreign language or fast for ten years??! Can't there be an immediate Access to Wisdom Code???

I asked the I Ching, "What is an Immediate Access Code?"

I received 47.2.5 - 16. Oppression changing to Enthusiasm
Yeah, an Immediate Access Code is something that when you're feeling oppressed, fills you with enthusiasm that gives you lift!

Not sure what the lines mean...Anybody got any ideas?

The lines 47.2 and 47.5 describe the scarlet sashes in line 2 and the crimson sashes in line 5. These are officials of a wholly borrowed authority whom we may none the less have to pay some due. In 47 there's an overall sense of oppression and in these lines the oppression appears to come from these authority figures. Access codes are themselves like crimson sashes. They assume an authority we supposedly must submit to to gain access to something. But this is not real. It's arbitrary, man made, what authority access codes have is kind of pretend authority.

So I think it's saying the idea of an immediate access code is a sort of sham authority code. No code is really needed despite how it appears. I think of automated parking payment systems. You know you get your card on the way in to the car park, you pay later and when you leave you cannot leave until you put the card back in the slot and the barrier lifts. Well that's real enough. We ain't going to get out otherwise but OTOH this is not a real authority. Like all these automated wotsits a conversation with a human being can over ride what the wotsit does.

So you don't need an access code and the idea that you do is a kind of phantom (16) There is nothing that you need an access code to get to here.

Tojina, I agree about the sashes.

So, 'What is IAC?'
I think the lines speak about sacrifice to the Gods.
Get away from the earthly pleasures of meat and drink, 'nose and feet cut off', 'sacrifice is needed'.
Transitional 45.5 - what a wonderful image - gathering before some leader in the ancestral temple.

16, Wilhelm:
Thus the ancient kings made music in order to honor merit,
And offered it with splendor to the Supreme Deity,
Inviting their ancestors to be present.

Give up the ego, give up the control and that will please the higher power.
The man with the sashes will come, don't resist him.

Or it can be a form of music - voice recognition system ?) or even some tune, melody, or in more spiritual way - high vibrations of the mind that allow you to tune in to 'global network of wisdom'.

Or if we take 47.2 literally - some drug/herb/plant used in a shamanic ritual to induce altered state of consciousness [47.5 losing physical senses].

I think Yi is saying there really isn't any Immediate Access Code. In line 2 of 47, blessings may come, but only if we sacrifice to one of high office. Line 5 is less lucky, because what we will won't come to pass. However, if we offer sacrifice, joy may come in the end. I associate line 2 with sitting for long periods of time at a table, perhaps in front of a computer. I associate line 5 with being stranded. It seems the relating hex of 16 signifies what we are wishing for, that the fantasy of immediate access should come true. :)

Thanks all for playing!

It may be that as Trogina and Ginnie suggest an immediate access code is unnecessary or doesn't exist - but I think ashteroid's interpretation of 47.2 got freaky close to cracking it.

I've played around with the idea a bit now and am getting useful tips asking the question, "What is my immediate access code today?" It's sort of the same as asking for an I Ching reading for the day but I seem to be getting clearer answers. Maybe it helps to rephrase standard questions from time to time to get the elves to pay attention.
