Hello All :). The latest development in the job search is a meeting with an acquaintance of my ex boyfriend. He is a well connected man in the Seattle area, and my ex said he offered to help me out finding new work... So, I gave him a call this morning. He is also a local jeweler, and when I spoke with he seemed more informed about a ring I would like to sell than the job search. Although he did seem open to helping me and aware I was looking for new work, I certainly got the impression that the ring was what stood out in his mind from his conversation with my ex. So, I aked the IC

"What is the potential of my meeting with X?" and got 60.3>5

Surprised at the responce, I followed up with,

"What are X's intentions to help me out?" and got 13.1.3 >12

60.3>5 doesn't sound good. I'm not sure how it relates to this situation though . It talks about restraint and not indulging. Perhaps is suggesting not to give him too much info about my situation maybe? Especially with my ex boyfriend? Also, doesn't sound like it ends up anywhere spectacular. End up waiting... I'm just not sure what to make of this. Any ideas here. I've never had this line before.

I was also nonplussed by13.1.3>12. Doesn't sound like he intends to help out much. Sounds like our interests in the meeting are at odds and will just lead to some kind of impasse. I was really hoping this meeting would be a good start in my networking, so I hope I am wrong. As always, any insight about either of these readings is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance... :bows:

Here is the text I've used, the lines according to Wilhelm, right here below:

Hexagram 60, line 3
Six in the third place means:
He who knows no limitation
Will have cause to lament.
No blame.

If an individual is bent only on pleasures and enjoyment, it is easy for him to lose his sense of the limits that are necessary. If he gives himself over to extravagance, he will have to suffer the consequences, with accompanying regret. He must not seek to lay the blame on others. Only when we realize that our mistakes are of our own making will such disagreeable experiences free us of errors.

Hexagram 13, line 1

Nine at the beginning means:
Fellowship with men at the gate.
No blame.

The beginning of union among people should take place before the door. All are equally close to one another. no divergent aims have yet arisen, and one makes no mistakes. The basic principles of any kind of union must be equally accessible to all concerned. Secret agreements bring misfortune.

Hexagram 13, line 3

Nine in the third place means:
He hides weapons in the thicket;
He climbs the high hill in front of it.
For three years he does not rise up.

Here fellowship has changed about to mistrust. Each man distrusts the other, plans a secret ambush, and seeks to spy on his fellow from afar. We are dealing with an obstinate opponent whom we cannot come at by this method. Obstacles standing in the way of fellowship with others are shown here. One has mental reservations for one’s own part and seeks to take his opponent by surprise. This very fact makes one mistrustful, suspecting the same wiles in his opponent and trying to ferret them out. The result is that one departs further and further from true fellowship. The longer this goes on, the more alienated one becomes.

Oh dear DWF - I think forget about this connection altogether especially as it sounds like you have a lot riding on the meeting and it seems to me the ex and the jeweller know it and will take advantage of it if you let them - that's what the hex's and the lines say to me for sure.
Better to wait Hex 5 and say No to the wrong people Hex 12. Melissa

hello, in my experiance, 60.3 was about not having much choice because someone had the upper hand - if you put yourself into this situation, you will just have to wait for some kind of a result....
again, 13.1 is about something mostly superficial and 13.3 a situation of being watched and/from put aside -that is from my experiances with these lines and 13.3 I have still going on, so this will bring no swift results, I think and agree with Melissa.

Thank you to both of you, Dragona and Goddessliss!... Unbelievable! If it's not one thing, it's another. Does the treachery ever end? No worries... Now I know not to waste my time with it:)... A little disappointed, but just knowing what's up gives me some control over the situation. I didn't really have a good gut feeling about it from the start. I think he would help me get a job, but would be undesirable employment. Maybe just wants to low ball me for that ring I want to sell. Who knows? There are always other opportunities and people who truly have my best interests at heart. Like you, my fellow I Chingers! Just goes to show that blessings are available no matter what the circumstances... So grateful to have people like yourselves watching out for me, the sense to pay heed to your wise counsel, and faith in good outcomes :). Now, I can put my energy into something worthwhile. Thanks again .

I haven't had a chance to look at your readings from an interpretation point of view so this is just a friendly piece of information which you can use or ignore :)

I had a ring which I thought was valuable but didn't know it's value for certain. I knew people in the jewellery business and they offered to value it for me. They valued it at £350 but because I knew them, they said they'd offer me £400 for it as a favour to me as a friend. I said I'd think about it. I then went to an independent jewellers and asked for a quote saying it was for insurance purposes and I didn't want to sell... they valued the ring at £850.

If I were you, I'd find the true value of your ring and also consider the emotional value of it to you before you consider selling it to anyone. Get a quote in writing if you can with a description of the ring included in the quote.

Thank you Loulisnowdrop:). I will do that. I know the ring I have has a good value. I had it appraised in the past for some amount I don't recall. Still have the appraisal somewhere. I don't know how much I could get for it now that it is used and the value has probably changed over the years, but I will get a quote on it from a reliable source before I sell it. I have decided to go meet with this man in spite of the sketchy reading. Although there are certainly some warnings there, I don't think the meeting itself could be harmful. I am basing this decision more on the question about the potential for the meeting. And the man's reputation, which is good. Clearly, he has the upper hand, but I think once he meets me his intentions will be to help out in any way he can. I can be quite likable! At this point his intentions are directed to a total stranger, so only makes sense that they are superficial and he feels somewhat wary. I will just go introduce myself and not make any decisions about anything. I'll just feel him out and let him do the same with me. Then I'll do a follow up reading. I won't expect much of it and certainly won't make any rash decisions so exploitation is not a risk.
Thank you again, both of you, for your help. :):):) :bows:

I would not leave the ring there, get the offer if you can and be vague would be my advice. I have the feeling they are talking behind your back. Does not look like a healthy situation to me.

Thank you Dragona. No worries. I wouldn't leave it there. Just going to pop in for a casual talk. Get an idea of what he would offer me for the ring, and then compare it to some prices from other buyers. The truth is, I don't think I even want to sell the ring. I'm not that bad off, and it does hold a sentimental value to me. I do appreciate your concern. It is good advice and I will be extremely careful. Thanks again. I will post about the outcome after I've met with him. Probably next week sometime.:hug::hug:

My take is 60 to 5 is that there are limiting factors that lead to waiting - then 13 to 12
though there is a general connection its not a lead for you - NEXT!! Good luck
