Hello everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about learning a new subject and signing up for a course that would let me introduce to a field in which I always had a big interest.
It's really difficult for me to decide and it would mean an investment of time and money, which always makes it harder for me to take decisions. The answer is 31 unchanging.

H31 Influence suggests:
Influence, creating success.
Constancy bears fruit.
Taking a woman, good fortune.

A noble one accepts people with emptiness.

at first sight 31 unchanging means a positive answer to me.
Do you agree?

Thank you
Namaste

You are waiting to make a decision and the Yi says:

31: Favorable augury for taking a wife. Auspicious.

If you think you may enjoy the course, then you should go for it. Just don't fret about it too much or make it out to be something bigger or greater than what it is.

Thank you dfreed :) It looks clear to me but I saw many different interpretations of this hex, and many were not positive. But I also think that with this kind of question it sounds like a yes.
Why do you think I shouldn't make it bigger, it is because the hex is in its unchanging form?

Hi Noukii,

Is it a good idea to attend a course on this subject? 31 unchanging / uc

31 is the hexagram of mutual flirting and mutual influence. Perhaps you don't have all the info you need to decide. Like you said, it will be an investment of time and money, so it's worthwhile to consider it carefully.

Will it be mutually beneficial? Do a bit of research if they offer good value for your money. For example, how are their prices for this course in comparison to other educational establishments? Will you get value for the money you give them, e.g. will the course be useful to you professionally? Flirt with the idea, perhaps even contact them and ask them some questions (let them woo you?), and then make a decision based on mutual benefit.

.... you think I shouldn't make it bigger, because the hex is unchanging?

Hello Noukii: No, it's not because it's an unchanging hexagram. A hexagram that's changing or unchanging has nothing to do with it being bigger or smaller (or more or less important, etc.), but it may - at times - mean that the response is more direct, or more straight-forward.

Perhaps 'small' was not a good word to use here? So, to explain: sometimes it is helpful for me to see, to understand the trigrams (three line figures) as family members; and so in Hex. 31 we have the youngest son, Mountain below, and the youngest daughter, Lake above.

Mountain represents your hesitancy, your holding back. But here you are told that if you find joy (a meaning for Lake) in what you're doing, that you should go for it, and hence:

'Favorable augury (omen, sign) for taking a wife.'

So by 'small' I meant that your wedding (e.g. taking the course) need not be a big, fancy affair, that ....

If you think you'll enjoy the course, then you should go for it. You don't need to fret or worry about it too much - enjoying it (being with Lake, enjoying her company) may be all you need.

I'll add, if the time or cost of the course makes it a burden for you, well - that's not very enjoyable.

I hope that is more clear ....

I saw many different interpretations of this hex, and many were not positive

I have looked at a few different translations of the hexagram statement and none of them are negative (e.g. not positive); it could be that some people have written negative words about what they think the Yi says, but those are not the words of the Yi. And just because someone says something, that doesn't make it correct or of use.

Best, D
