Happy New Year Everyone! I just broke things off (again) with an ex and I feel like it's really over this time. I felt a sense of relief when I did it even though I miss him tremendously. The last email he sent to me ended:

From my experience with the universe, I don’t think this is the last time we’ll talk. But until then, I wish you the very best, too.

So I asked IC: How do I know if it's really over between me & Nx? The answer was 8.12.4.5 > 54. I think 8.5 is confirming it's over, but why so many changing lines? And is 54 saying that if I accept a subordinate position in the relationship (as I feel like I have) that it can continue successfully? Any insight would be so graciously recieved! Thanks in advance

Here's my first post ever describing my situation. Trojina I'm honored you replied and it was accurate btw! https://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/fri...ing-someone-else-Hexagram-31-1-changing-to-49

I thought about the 4 changing lines and its energy is like the dynamics of our union. A lot of chi from woo-peak-chaos-withdrawal/retreat, rinse and repeat. The push and pull was giving me so much anxiety that I broke things off.

Has anyone else felt that "energy" with mostly changing lines in a hex? What does it mean all together as a whole?

And what about 8.5 and the last line of his email? Wing says: You can trust fate at this time to bring you together with those who would further you (link to first post describes our connection more). There is a natural attraction at work here. The atmosphere is liberal, and much can be accomplished. The time is auspicious, indeed.

Does Line 5 actually tell me it’s not over like I thought? Your insight would be valuable to me. Thanks!

You ask how you'll know if it's really over. I think you're being advised that if you don't initiate any further contact (the Marrying Maiden does not initiate anything) and he doesn't reach out to seek 8. Union with you, then you should assume it's over.
These hexagrams make it seem so simple that perhaps the I Ching is saying that although it may not seem this simple to you, your history has been so on-again off-again that you can't be sure, still you really should just play straight. That is, play it that it's over - don't look for deeper meaning or imagine the future, live your life, don't call him and if he doesn't call you, that's that.

Thanks Rosada! I like how you said that the Marrying Maiden doesn't initiate anything - which I won't. It's just that last line in his email that is somewhat taunting and I do feel that there will be some sort of event or "fate" that will bring us back together. The connection is very powerful and hard to totally disconnect. Even had my tarot read and it showed us having a deep, spiritual connection. Unlike any relationship I've ever experienced before - romantic or platonic.

But a woman like me - has a hard time being a Marrying Maiden.

Le sigh.
