First and foremost,

Thanks to all who helped me in my previous thread about how to question the Yi. Oh, by the way, thanks for the Christmas card Hilary
zen2.gif

I took suggestions and asked the Yi about my current employment. I'll share the readings with you all and any help in interpreting will be welcome.

1. "show me an image of my professional life at CA"

Hex# 20 with 6 at 4th, and 9 at 5th...changing into Hex# 52

I'm getting from 6 at 4th that I should examine myself and my intentions before looking for another job. I believe I've done this already. I'm so unhappy at work and have been for several months. But isn't 9 at the 5th kind of the same thing here?

Hex# 52 I understand to become like a sage through meditation, or, I could be completely off. Again, I think I've done that with my current work situation. I've seen that this environment isn't for me. What is your take on this anyone?

I'm looking into another company right now, and want to see if there is anything I should be aware of that's negative because of my current experience, so I asked:

2. "speak to me about the GE IONICS job, is there anything evil I should know about"

***Interestingly/confusingly I got Hex# 52 AGAIN with 9 at the top...changing into Hex# 15

What do you make of this? I was very surprised to get Hex# 52 immediately after I just received it?

So, I decided to ask the Yi a more specific question in regards to this job opportunity, and asked:

3. "please show me if the GE IONICS job is worth pursuing"
Hex# 46 6 at the 4th...changing into Hex# 32

"useful to see the great man"...Is the Yi telling me that it might be a good idea to interview Monday with the recruiter? What does "southward proceed" mean?

Hex# 32 is interesting to me because the job is a straight commission job, but, hex# 32 talks of constancy? This job will give me a great deal of flexibility (which I'm kind of looking for), but what other kinds of constancy is Hex# 32 talking about? In the times of Heng, Stability and Regularity are its attributes. Is it possible to have these things with a job that is somewhat free?

HHHHHHHHEEEEEEELLLLLLPPPPP.......LOL!!!

Thanks all,

What about hex 20 shows you contemplating a move and looking for a change in employment.Moving lines seem to support this.
But are you reluctant for change going in to the unknown.I believe the hexigram changes to 35.
46 4-an interview of some sort or a good working relationship.
32 something that continues and endures.
something for you to chew on.

Strawdogs,

You're not the only one who has ever come up with a wrong hexagram for a reading. I've even read the texts of the wrong changing lines and came away with a totally mistaken impression of the message! Sometimes paging between the reference chart, pages for original and resulting hexagrams, and footnotes/commentaries can get confusing. Using more than one translation at a time can add another layer of confusion. (I'll have to admit that I suffer from ADHD where focus and concentration problems come into play.)

By the way, I developed a "portable I Ching" volume to use when I am at work or on the go. I was unable to find a compact-sized edition of the I Ching that has enough of the traditional text and sufficient keyword hints or brief interpretations in one volume to satisfy my needs. I spent the better part of a weekend downloading the Wilhelm-Baynes version text from the internet, formatting it in Word so each hex was contained on a 4.25" x 5.5" page, making reduced copies of excerpts from two "modern" translations, making back-to-back pages at a copy center, and having the pages spiral bound so each page opens up flat to show traditional text on the left and commentaries on the right -- a lot of work, but I finally have a copy of the I Ching I can use when I'm away from home!

Hi Chris-
One of Cleary's four translations (I Ching: The Book of Changes) comes in a tiny pocket-sized volume. Of the four this one is second best for staying true to the Chinese (I'd place this one in my top twelve translations, but his Buddhist I Ching is even more precise).

Hi Bradford,

I have that version and the translation is fine, but I like to have some additional keywords or commentary to spark my intuition -- especially for changing lines. I have done readings out in public with Cleary's translation, but always go home and check out more sources before I give a more definitive reading.

Thanx,
Chris

Dear Stuart,

Hello!!! Can you please reaffirm that my changing Hex# 20 should be 35 instead of #52?

I reviewed my reading and still get #52? My first trigram I got was 8, 8, 6. The "6" is written like -x- right? Or is it written as a "solid" line with the x?

My second trigram was 8, 9, 7. (I'm using the Wu Jing-Nuan translation)I also cross-referenced this with Wilhelm/Baynes and am still getting hex#52?

Have I lost it?

Dear Strawdogs,

The way you've written out the hex above does move to #52

However, in you're first message you wrote "Hex# 20 with 6 at 4th, and 9 at 5th" which would move to #35.

I think that there's just been a confusion with writing it up here.

Love
Nicky

I apologize...you are right. IT IS 6 AT THE 3RD!!!!!!

so, now what? What's the message of Hex# 52?

It's been a very confusing time over the last few days. It's the holidays here in the states, and I'm around my family (who I love dearly), but EVERYBODY is telling me what I should do. This makes it very difficult for me to "listen" to my heart and the Yi. I would so much appreciate it if the forum could give me there 2 cents worth for both of my recent posts (minus my mistake...sorry guys).

I have an interview Monday and I'm not feeling to confident. Again, I love my family but over time it's so easy for my mind to get filled with doubt if I'm around them too long.

***Pleas refer to JOB QUESTIONYING...PART 1 and JOB QUESTIONYING...PART 2
