Which is apparently about to have major repercussions throughout the Cosmos.

Perhaps we will be seeing some massive hex 55 (also called Total Solar Eclipse in Flux Tome) insights next week.

I learned about the limitations of this database system, when I accidentally put a note about the eclipse of July 21-22 atop the press release for the Yi jing iphone app. Then I discovered it could not be changed or deleted, so now I have set up a new thread to correct my error.

However, that leaves this thread stuck into the database. So now it is incumbent upon me to make a relevant I Ching News thread about this major eclipse next week. So, here goes...

Granted that Wilhelm notes the context of hex 55 being a Total Solar eclipse in commentary upon some of the lines (like 2 and 3); however, looking at that hexagram in light of such a context makes all the lines make more sense it would seem that next week could be a great time for an empirical experiment in the results of a Yi Oracle answer of hex 55.

The trigrams involved, thunder and lightning represent cause and effect since they always follow one another (cf. hex21) Here Li is under Chen and there is no simple overall image such as an open mouth with a stick in it. So, the cause-and-effect notion is not generalized as justice so much as focused into that precise and well-documented pattern that the Earth will line up exactly between the New Moon conjunction resulting in a visible Total Eclipse of the Sun.

So, how do YOU experience a major event like this in YOUR Yi Oracles? Does the context of the massive eclipse (beginning July 21st--like two minutes before midnight 22 July GMT and lasting until a bit after 5 am GMT--here in US Pacific Time Zone it starts at 7:30 pm on the 21st).

Overall, I expect it will be a major event in the lives of us each and all with major news impacts as well. So, as a matter of I Ching News--what is the news of how the eclipse affects YOU and your Yi Oracles?

Casting Oracles July 21-22 on various questions as the eclipse moves along?

I already see some major changes brewing and expected for next week. The Sotomayor confirmation vote is scheduled for Tuesday. Health care reform and other legislation is to be fought out starting that week, trying to get an actual bill signed into law before the August break.

Will the iphone app actually be released 21 July, or 22 July or when? I will be casting oracles next week to see what effect a Total Eclipse of the Sun will produce in Yi Oracle results...

Some sense of 22 July as change between the prior and the next...

Hi All,
The decision by Hilary to take July 22nd as the time to shut the database for renovations and introduction of new rules is one clear and total example of the Total Solar Eclipse of 0hr, 22 July (GMT). Hard to imagine a clearer use of the eclipse as an dividing line between prior and next in terms of I Ching Clarity.

Both Walter Cronkite and the last US veteran of WWI have died now. The symbolic clearing of the old era...

I cast an Oracle about what was happening for me in this Eclipse time. Of course, the first hexagram was hex18 with its famous line of three days before starting, three days after starting.

The arrest of Prof Skip Gates by Cambridge PD Sgt and then Pres. Obama using the word "stupidly" to describe the police conduct is probably best seen as an eclipse influenced event. It has opened a can of worms and invective hard to imagine without an eclipse in the background.

A homeowner yelling at police if they show up unneeded is as American as Apple Pie. Every one in that line of work knows that a false alarm is upsetting to folks, perhaps because it carries with it the lingering fear that since the police came then and it didn't work out, they are more likely not to come when called next time and are needed.

It also was a classic case of Harvard faculty and working class townie tensions. But none of that survived the media frenzy. Where is Michael Jackson's corpse when folks need a bit of media privacy?

But now it is an eclipse event and it may well do more to pass a policy guidelines and basic reform health care bill than much of anything else. Things have unintended consequences and after a big eclipse anything can happen.

This issue has raised all sorts of expressions of concern on the issue of race. Mostly involving very reasonable and measured statements from African Americans (after Obama lit the fuse with his 'stupidly' word--that is pure Total Solar Eclipse) being met by various shades of blind rage and gut fury from white folks equally scared about the Next step in general and the particular of living in a newly black reality.

The quiet announcement that there are too many H1N1 flu cases to count and that 40% of the US population may get it this fall (and the unvoiced prior comment that no one knows what exactly H1N1 will have evolved into by then) are also good things to hang on the eclipse. Anyone ever heard a prediction for even 10% total population infection rate?

Three eclipses in a row for first time since 2000 and not again for quite awhile...

The longest Total Solar Eclipse in a century was preceded by a lunar eclipse the full moon before and is followed tomorrow by another lunar eclipse full moon. Two eclipses in a row is common, when the orbits are close they tend to stay close for those 2 weeks to the next lunation. Three in a row is far more unusual.

The lunar eclipse of 5 August 2009 (like the earlier one of July 7, 2009) will be a shallow penumbral eclipse, difficult to see with the naked eye.

However, it occurs on the full moon, the opposition of the Sun in the 14th degree of Leo and the Moon in the 14th degree of Aquarius.

Traditionally, the moon represents public opinion or the people. The 14th degree of Aquarius has the Sabian Symbol of: A long and heavy train climbs the steep mountain grade, and at last a tunnel offers a shortcut to the other side. And the Sun represents the Chief Executive. The 14th degree of Leo: Seen in the form of a cherub whispering soft coaxing words into every receptive ear, a human soul seeks expression. This corresponds to Yi Hex10.2 Treading a smooth, level course. The perseverance of a dark man brings good fortune.

This is one degree away from Obama's Sun position in the 13th degree of Leo corresponding to hex 10line 1 or STRUTTING WITH SIMPLICITY. ADVANCE. NO BLAME. Simple and unwavering he carried out his wish.
