Q: Please give me a reflection on my love life over this year?
A: 51.1>16

Wilhelm/Baynes:
'Shock comes -- Oh, Oh! Then follow laughing words -- Ha, Ha! Good fortune.'

Hilary:
'Shock comes, fear and terror. Then afterwards, laughing words, shrieking and yelling. Good fortune.'

Karcher:
'Beginnings: return of the spirit that brings the entrance of a new fate.
This is a profound shock. Everything is turned upside down. Do not call out for help. The anxiety will soon turn to joy. Cut through pride and complication. Set the armies marching and take the capital city. Meet people with generosity and care as you signal to your true kin. Provide what is needed. Step outside the norms. These goings and comings release bond energy. Prepare the decisive new move.' (my emphasis on "bond")

Is "bond" a typo? It occurs in other lines he comments on in 51.

1st interpretation: I went through a break up. This could be the 51-shock. The "shock" of the break up passes, and then I feel happy with the outcome? W/B writes of "transitory" disadvantage followed by relief.

2nd interpretation: I meet someone new. I'm shocked, aroused, excited, and scared. The fear keeps me on my toes. The meeting proves to bring about a joyful experience?

This also sticks out:
"The superior man is always filled with reverence at the manifestation of God; he sets his life in order and searches his heart, lest it harbor any secret opposition to the will of God. Thus reverence is the foundation of true culture." (W/B)

Reflect on the fact that in one's love life sometimes there also exist pleasant surprises.

Diamanda,

Thank you for the reply. I'll take a "pleasant surprise" any day of the week! *Heart feels joy.*

I hope it happens for you!

However, take a care when forming questions.
You asked what to reflect on.
So, now you're left with something to reflect on, but not a prediction of how your love life will be.

Thank you!

Nice catch on semantics. I thoroughly enjoy crafting. In my estimation, a reflection of what something will be given a time stamp is like a prediction. But, I get where you're coming from. I'll be more succinct next time. :)

Hi, the reading moves from two thunder claps (lower and upper trigrams of the hexagram) to one, from shock to delight. Something sudden happens, causing fear, but then you realize it is a nice surprise, giving delight. Your breakup? or something to come? Does love work for you like thunder, suddenly? or may be it will this next time. It is beyond your power, it comes from heaven, stay reverent and know that you are in the presence of something mighty and good. Then you will draw wonder and joy from the experience.
(I think it should be "bound" not "bond" in the translation)

Living Iching translation:
Hexagram 51: Thunder
Statement: Thunder everywhere. Thunder comes frighteningly. People laugh and exclaim. Thunder terrifies for one hundred miles, but do not lose the ladle of sacrificial wine.

Hexagram Number: 51
Hexagram Name: Thunder
Line 1 comment: Thunder brings fright and terror. Afterward, laughter and talk: ha ha. Fortune.

Hexagram 16: Delight
Statement: What delight! Gain by naming allies. Move armies.
The image Thunder explodes, shaking the earth: delight. The early kings made music, glorifying virtue as the highest offering to God, and so they were worthy of their ancestors.

Thanks, loverofknowledge. I feel like it's something to come. I didn't feel much of a shock with the break up. So, that actually clarifies things for me. From shock to delight. A delightful shock. :bows:

I was at the beach, recently, and it was so gloriously beautiful that I was AWESTRUCK -- taken out of myself, and my circle of psychological dramas, so that I delighted in the extreme beauty around me. Maybe that's the kind of Thunder that turns into delight -- and don't lose your ladle for the sacrificial wine.

Hey, I'll take "awestruck from beauty that beats the psycho-dramas out of me" any day!
