This is my very first post here, after a few weeks of casting and lurking to read other people's interpretations to the hexagrams I was getting.
Tonight, as a decision is starting to form in my mind about the career path I want to head down on, I decided to do a reading and then ask for your input, as I'm very 'green' in the I-Ching, but feel a very strong connection to it, far superior to my feelings about other manners of divination.
Anyway, my situation is as follows: I'm a writer, stuck in a dead-end job until a couple of weeks ago. I decided to quit that job and, through a friend, got the opportunity to do an internship. Trouble is, my new workplace is a mess, with everyone talking behind everyone's back, my own attributions unclear and very non-creative. At the same time, I'm doing freelance writing and possibly have a window of opportunity to be assigned a major, well-paid writing project. I'm thinking of quitting the internship (although I have been officially promised a full-time paid position at the end of my trial month) and venturing into the uncertain waters of freelancing, as I feel this is much more suited for my personality and profile. But I'm scared.
So I asked the I-Ching if I was making the right choice about my career and got 54.1.2.4 > 2.
The way I see it is this: my current situation is untenable and cannot be adapted to my needs. Line 1: I'm trampling along, but barely so (that's how it feels to be managing freelance writing + an office job). Line 2: I need to retreat into solitude (i.e. freelancing) and keep an eye set on my real goals. Line 4: I will get to the place I want, but I'll have to be patient and wait out a difficult period. If the primary hexagram speaks about the present, then this is exactly what my current situation is like. Changing to hex 2, to my mind, speaks about the guidance and offers for freelance work I've been getting from close connections and friends. As a matter of fact, that major project will come via a close friend and former co-worker I still have in that particular industry. She's my gateway back in, and my guiding light.
So... Am I totally off-kilter here? I'm afraid I might be trying too hard to put a positive spin on this.
