Master's program application : 42.1 to 20

Hello all! I hope your New Year began peacefully.

So, the other day I did a reading after I submitted an application to a Master's program at a very prestigious university. It's an extremely selective course and getting into it would afford me a world of opportunities for my career. It's been my dream for three years to get into this specific program. In fact, it was my motivation throughout my entire undergraduate degree.

I know that I-Ching can't tell the future, but I've given this application my all and am dying to know how this will turn out!

Right after I submitted the application, I asked the Oracle to tell me about what will happen after sending this application.
The answer: 42.1 to 20.

Wilhelm/Baynes: It furthers one to accomplish great deeds. Supreme good fortune. No blame.
Blofeld: The time is favorable for undertaking great works -- sublime good fortune and no error!
Liu: It is beneficial to undertake a great enterprise. Sublime good fortune. No blame.

I've sat on this reading for a few days and this is how I've interpreted it: Sending the application was just the beginning of the process; also, this program would represent the beginning of my career. I've received a lot of help on this journey and, while applying may have been a reach (not in terms of my ability to do this program, but for the fact that they accept very few people), if they accept me, I need to give back to those who have assisted me along the way. I'm tentatively thinking that I may have fortune on my side?

I'd be very grateful if someone could give me their interpretation of my reading. Is it auspicious?

I think you got it right -- you're at the very beginning! I think it is definitely more encouraging than not, now you are starting a path and so that in and of means it can lead somewhere. I think it's encouraging you to keep going.

I agree with redoleander, it's a promising answer. Line 42.1 confirms what you told us, that you've taken great care while completing your application. You've managed to clearly showcase your best achievements. And resulting 20 shows, I believe, that they'll really pay attention to it, they'll go through it very carefully until they decide to make an offer. They might take their time, but I hope an offer does come at the end of their studying it. Fingers crossed for you!

Given that you specifically have stated you do not believe the I Ching can predict the future I think you have to limit the scope of this reading and therefore I wouldn't interpret it as answering whether you will or will not ultimately be accepted.

I do think this means it was a well written application and that it will be given a fair review, wont be lost in the mail, etc.

Having set the ball rolling by submitting your application your challenge now is to just let heaven and earth do their business. You have overcome much to get to the point of making this submission, Now stay well out of the energetics of the process in hand. It's time to allow the blessings to tumble around you. Keep any negative thoughts / feelings out of your mind and allow the submission to be seen for what it is. By all means radiate positivity for the submissions success but mainly watch and wait. What will be will be.

You are seeing/surveying things and being seen (20). H42 advises you to augment the good, the virtuous, the things that will bring you closer to where you want to be, or at least to be on the path to get there. Line 1 is just the beginning - Yi confirms you did well to try and apply - and that you should keep the strategy. I've seen this line playing out in higher education contexts as a commending of one's approach and strategy, not necessarily the result. Meaning the process of learning here matters!

I’m so sorry if I haven’t replied earlier, but I wanted to wait for the result in order to give you guys a definitive answer. But in the meanwhile I’ve read & taken every answer to heart!

Anyways— I’m thrilled to say that I’ve been accepted. I’m over the moon. It’s been a dream of mine for many years!

I’m getting goosebumps re-reading this reading. I believe that the oracle was telling me several things: that my application would be Seen; that this would be the beginning of an Increase in my life; that this, in fact, well within the scope of my abilities.

So, I’d like to thank all of you for your incredible insight. All of your interpretations were spot-on!

I'm older than you by a decade and have my eye on a very special Master's program. I'd absolutely need to get funds for it, hence my age, education gap and other things complicate the things a little bit for me. It's a dream opportunity which would make lots of my old and new wishes come true.

I'd have to wait for about two years to see if the program opens with funding or not. I wish myself to stand in a similar place to yours then
