Hey Everyone,

I am completely new to the I Ching and divination in general.

I asked the following age old question, "What should I do with my life?"

The answer I got was the following, but I'm having trouble figuring out it's meaning.

Can anyone help?

15. Ch'ien / Modesty

---- ----
---- ---- above K'un The Receptive, Earth
---- ----
----------
---- ---- below K^en Keeping Still, Mountain
---- ----

The Judgement

Modesty creates success.
The superior man carries things through.

The Image

Within the earth, a mountain:
The image of Modesty.
Thus the superior man reduces that which is too much,
And augments that which is too little.
He weighs things and makes them equal.

The Lines

() Nine in the third place means:
A superior man of modesty and merit
Carries things to conclusion.
Good fortune.

Six in the fourth place means:
Nothing that would not further modesty
In movement.

Six at the top means:
Modesty that comes to expression.
It is favorable to set armies marching
To chastise one's own city and one's country.

35. Chin / Progress

----------
---- ---- above Li The Clinging, Flame
----------
---- ----
---- ---- below K'un The Receptive, Earth
---- ----

The Judgement

Progress. The powerful prince
Is honored with horses in large numbers.
In a single day he is granted audience three times.

The Image

The sun rises over the earth:
The image of Progress.
Thus the superior man himself
Brightens his bright virtue.

What should I do with my life?

Overall judgment: You should find renewal by focusing on the things that already give your life meaning and purpose.

It is unusual for a new poster to Clarity to post the relevent text. This suggests exceptional care and thoroughness and should be part of your definition of yourself.

Modesty creates success.
The superior man carries things through.

This modesty is care for group interests.

Thus the superior man reduces that which is too much,
And augments that which is too little.
He weighs things and makes them equal.

Seek balance in life by emphasizing neglected aspects.

15.3
Nine in the third place means:
A superior man of modesty and merit
Carries things to conclusion.
Good fortune.

Complete the uncompleted things you have started.

15.4
Six in the fourth place means:
Nothing that would not further modesty
In movement.

Hatcher:
Nothing cannot be turned to advantage
With candid authenticity

Much potential if you are true to yourself.

15.6
Modesty that comes to expression.
It is favorable to set armies marching
To chastise one's own city and one's country.

Tend to the disordered elements in your life first.

35J
Progress. The powerful prince
Is honored with horses in large numbers.
In a single day he is granted audience three times.

You may expect public recognition for the changes you make.

35I
The sun rises over the earth:
The image of Progress.
Thus the superior man himself
Brightens his bright virtue.

Right. Focus on those things in which you already excel.

Hey Pocossin,

Thanks for the help. I guess I just need to find what gives my life meaning.

The whole complete unfinished tasks thing is weird, because I tend to start projects then never finish them.
