Hi Everybody

I am at huge crossroads in my life I am a believer in the 7 year itch and another one mine is fast approaching.

Basically I am trying to get to the Philippines as this is where my business is going to be based, I have put allot of the structure in place and next year could be extremely prosperous.
We will be doing business on international level with an emerging market in video marketing

I would really like to be there before Xmas and the closer we get to Xmas the more expensive airfares get etc. I am very confused about when I should leave exactly, I have few dates in mind however I am waiting for payments to come in plus their are bills that need to be sorted however the plan I have should come together although it is a battle.
Even once I get there payments will keep coming in its not like I need to pay everything before I leave as I can do business once I arrive.

My Fiancee is waiting for me and is part of my business an integral part actually.

I have a few choices or a few plans on how this could work, basically money is coming but it will come between now and Xmas this week I am applying for a credit card which will help allot IF approved

I have somewhere I could stay although the conditions wont be that great, what I would like to do is get the place I want and leave around the 10th when airfares are still cheap. However at this very point I cant afford that although this could change by the end of this coming week.

One of the biggest problems I have is my current landlord who has just retired. I have been renting here for 6 years in February. The daughter of the landlord lives in the main house and I live in the apartment in the back. Over the years I have had insurmountable interuptions and they can be quite selfish. For example they have three access points to get into their house and they choose to use my door so I have constant banging from a gate that goes in the garage. They had the power cut off for a week and that means I had it as well. I said nothing and that effected my income dramaticaly.
Over the years they have had boarders that have bee-lined to my house basically sleeping in their house but hanging out in mine, the landlord knows none of this and saying all this they have kind of made me part of the family but as we all know blood is thicker than water.
Saying this I do like or care for these guys and have never complained because it could bring tention between us.

So on that level its not good however in the past my landlord has been lenient on the rent as my money can come in waves.
Now that he is retired that has all changed and he is emailing constantly and calling me if the rent is even slightly late so as far as I am concerned its time to go.
He has a habit of repeating himself which is highly annoying

The REAL problem is that I made him aware that I am going overseas and he believes its for a holiday because if I told him I am not coming back he may take measures to throw me out before I have things in place on my side. He also I believe is making me part of his retirement plan, even if i was staying then i wouldn't be staying here.
Houses where I am at the moment a freely available and compared to what I am paying I could have allot better conditions and I believe he is blind to this from the conversations I have had.

Now that he knows I am going he is wanting rent in advance which is digging into what I need to do.
Like I said in the past he has been fantastic but that has changed as I don't have that kind freedom anymore. Basically he is really starting to stress me.
I kind of feel like I am being treated like a child and he feels I owe him for being lenient, over the years I have paid him huge amounts if you add it all up.
I am biting my tounge as i feel like I may explode soon because if I was dealing with a bank or estate agent it would simply be a matter of giving notice and I could pay monthly.

I want to leave on good terms I even have a cleaner coming for a quote today to have the place professionally cleaned which i will pay out of my money plus I happy if he keeps my bond after Ieave.
So basically it feels like what I want to do means nothing and what he wants is everything.
I dont want to have to leave like a thief in the night but i am thinking this might be best.
Then just say i had to take the cheaper flight so sorry.

I also know my timing for leaving isnt the best for him to get someone new in however he does have allot of money he just doesnt want to touch it.

So I am juggling finances and confused on where to allocate them,

The second line I am gathering is stating strike while the iron is hot and dont miss a beat, the 3rd line is suggesting keep my purse strings tight and don't fall for any drinking to kill the frustration, the 5th line I am guessing is go with the flow and take the path of least resistance.
The problem is it feels like i have many paths and unsure which to take I guess as the week unfolds I may have a clearer picture as more money arrives thus giving me more choices

I would love some expert opinions or outside advice. :duh:
This is one of those turning points in my life I am 47 now and dont want to be feeling guilty about the choices someone else has made in their life, i have had it.

Thanks for your time
Steve :bows:

So how did it go Steve?

I agree with lines 2 and 3, but 5 says - and as the theme of the whole reading is - limit your ambitions, endure the hard times[36], accept inferior position, the need to stay low for a while.
36 I think refers to the money issues/landlord. I guess you did move but later than you wanted to.

Hey There

Thanks for reminding me on this thread I think i did a few castings and eventually came up with 53.6, then I knew I was leaving, I actually left on Xmas day and arrived at my final destination on New Years with a massive hangover.

I actually left nearly 15 years to the day, as I arrived on Xmas eve to that town.

There were all kinds of mishaps just getting out, my credit card was suppose to arrive and it never came, I actually didnt get my hands on it untill Xmas eve, then i lost a whole heap of money when i did, I even got lost in the desert after going to a kind of goodbye party, it was like every force in the world was trying to stop me, yes the landlord was a nightmare and was even emailing me everyday for month when i got here.
I did lie low and didnt mention to the landlord i was leaving to avoid his big song and dance.

It was not easy but I got here

Steve
