I thought this would be an interesting reading to query and seek the community’s wisdom on as we see how it unfolds. I asked, “New York Attorney General Tish James’ lawsuit against the NRA?” I received 43.1.3.5 changing to 40.
I’m a neophyte Yi reader but here’s my initial take...
I love the general counsel of 40 to focus on what you are moving towards rather than against. It is super dangerous and I do have concerns for her safety. She’s my former city council person and lives around the corner from me. We are a strong neighborhood and may need to be mindful of what’s and who is happening on the block. Hilary’s line,
“As the message of the decision spreads out from the centre, it is fruitless to take up arms: this is a time to communicate, not fight,” is poignant as overly hyped gunfolks cannot shoot this away, it would indeed doom them immediately.
Line 1 - speaks to how flagrantly the NRA president has been misappropriating funds on expensive, clothes, travel and mansions.
Line 3 - his pride caught up with him and James is shored up and ready to weather the worst of storms to see this case through.
Line 5 - Amaranth is a highly nutritious grain, alluding to the fortified solider for ready battle with a highly well thought out plan
Hex 40 - release and liberation, the truth comes out and all parties are exposed. And hopefully the 2nd amendment is no longer conflated with the NRA organization. The crucial tests will be in not succumbing to hidden players pulling it off course.
I feel like this case could be successful and change things for the better.
Looking for to other points of view on the query.

The fact that you have a personal connection here makes me think this question may have more - hmmm, what? - authenticity I guess than if just any random traveler were to ask it. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I too had thoughts for this attorney's safety. Hopefully 40. means there is Deliverance from this group that has distorted the 2nd amendment like a parasite.

Cavarose, personally, I may want a similar outcome as you do, but I think we need to be especially mindful of not turning the Yi into a wish fulfillment machine - where magically its answer matches our own desired outcome. This seems especially true with politics.

Stepping a bit 'outside the lines' here - and focusing on the trigram meanings and imagery, I wonder if the AG (lower heaven trigram) might be feeling a bit too sure of herself, and needs to become more aware of the dangers this case could reveal, which might be the inherent risk of further divisiveness over this issue. If nothing else, she may want to be more aware of the emotions involved, and not just the 'facts' of the case.

For the NRA, they may be feeling confident, but perhaps they're too focused only on an outcome that is pleasing to them. But to be successful, they may need to consider taking a new approach or seeing this from a fresh perspective; for example, what if the case revealed corruption? Maybe by thinking of this as 'cleaning house' - instead of the old school 'they're attacking our second amendment right' argument - the case could serve them.

The lines feel like a progression from a rocky, unsure start, to success ... perhaps. But I think the AG needs to remember that this case is about 'uprooting' corruption, and not about anyone's (or her own) political agenda - but that's a pretty tall order these days.

And cavarose, you say of Line 5 - 'Amaranth is a highly nutritious grain, alluding to the fortified solider for ready battle with a highly well thought out plan'? Im curious, where is that from?

I see line 5 as being about 'uprooting' things - for example, corruption or old ideas - so as to 'balance behavior'. But I don't see it saying anything about a soldier or an Aztec grain?

All the best ....
