I have only just started dealing with I Ching, but have managed to have an astounding run of signs.

I am a Wu Shu Kwan student (Chinese Kickboxing) - sign no. 1
Around about the same time I began looking at I Ching I began learning basic Chinese on a free website - sign nos 2 & 3
I teach in a secondary school and on our Olympic themed Sports Day next week my tutor group will be representing China - sign no. 4

Now this is where it starts getting interesting - to me any way.

I did a reading at the beginning of the week, simply asking what I needed to know. I got a single hexagram answer of 31. So I looked up the nuclear hexagram (44) and read all the stuff. It seemed to me that I Ching was trying to tell me that I should be open to new opportunities that are coming my way, that I shouldn't force the issue but be adaptable as I had good stuff coming.

Since this reading I have been offered to go to CHina (Hubei Province) for about a month over the summer, for free.

Seems a little more than a coincidence, no?

Grab life by the horns! Sounds like something you'll never forget... I'd say go for it, regardless of signs (but they don't hurt ;-) ).

"Seems a little more than a coincidence, no?"

Of course it's no coincidence. The question I've got (I've always had this question) is this: did your I Ching reading anticipate what was on its way anyway, did it 'read' the immediate future, in other words? Or did it get you thinking along lines that helped invite, or even create, the opportunity that has appeared? I don't think I'll ever know the answer to this one.

Dobro,

Your either-or question assumes that the options are mutually exclusive... (??)

HyniB,

I think its coincidence but I also think its more. I'll have to use metaphor to explain what I mean.

You are a seeker, and along the way you noticed something that piqued your interest. It sounds as though this may have been your interest in martial arts. Now you have tapped into a root of a large tree. From this root other elements seep into your field of awareness, such as the Chinese language. Then, seemingly unrelated events come to you, also from the same root, such as the China theme in your tutor group. I'm curious, did you play any part in naming or choosing the theme?

31 is the nature of influence. What you are influenced by is a result of what root you tap into. In this case, it sounds organic and natural to your nature. So long as your own nature is not supplanted by these interests, I'd say go for it!

I'm definately going! Flights got booked today so I just need to sort out the visa at the embassy. There's an added bonus there as I may need to take a morning off work to get it!

Dobro - I don't know which it id, but to be honest I think I may just be a little more open to signs at the moment!

Candid - I really like your tree metaphor, I may need to steal it as a stimulus for some of my A-level drama students.
As for the tutor group countries, they were entirely decided by the PE department and not the tutors, however one of the PE teachers is a tutor in the same year group and he knows about my martial arts sstuff, so perhaps there was an indirect influence there!

No need to steal it, Hynib, I got it from the same root as you did.
