I recently I stumped upon some people that think that Obama is just a puppet.. that is something that is supposed to be some sort of actor, the people that think this maybe are a little bit inmersed in a world class conspirancy regarding the New World Order and all that stuff...

But after talking about this.. I did because its part of the material I'm researching for my novel... so I though let's take a look at Clarity, so I found your post Hilary:

54 as the dao of the presidency? That’s really interesting. It certainly makes sense that anyone entering that office does so as the Marrying Maiden, though I’d never exactly thought of it that way before.

and my mouth was exactly as in 27.1 .....

The marrying maiden, a situation where you don't really have any power....

What do think about it? I don't know what to think at all but this really surprised me!

Best!

Btw, I did not know if I really posted in the right spot!

But I think this is an interesting disscussion regarding the possible meanings of 54...

Do you think that 54 unchanging can mean that you have some power? or nothing at all?

I mean 54 unchanging ALWAYS meant to me that I could do absolutely nothing in a give situation, or in a given job...

Marrying Maiden as a situation where you don't have any power to act directly and create the world as you want it to be - not necessarily quite the same thing.

I can't remember where I wrote that, but I expect I was thinking vaguely about the metaphor of the king as the 'wife' of the state, as described by Freeman Crouch in his Chameleon Book. An elected representative is meant to be the servant of the people, after all.

Freeman's global commentary on Hexagram 54 reads,
The Marrying Daughter is an intricate moment. You are taking control of the state, and yet you must win the approval of those whom you will rule. The relationship must be represented tersely and with humility, and perhaps with humor. The Marrying Daughter appears to be none other than the Zhou people, embodied in the person of King Wu.

For your initiative, it is the season, but not the day. Note the unfavorable judgment, and yet how favorable many of the lines are. A few changes must yet pass before you act. Be wary - continue to watch the skies.

The eventual catalist aspect of hex 54 could give a more positive view on the presidency. It evokes reaction but does not do or change itself.

Hi All,

Hexagram 54 or Chasing Rainbows or Marrying little sister is in the 6th decad about the effects upon the individual of various strokes from the Divine, such as being shot with Cupid's arrow. Here in the 4th hexagram is the place of initial conditions which in this case is basic lust moving the successful and aspiring man to take a second wife or concubine who is young and pretty but not the eldest daughter of a noble family.

As the Tao of the Presidency of the U.S. it would emphasize that the Chief executive under the U.S. Constitution has only the responsibility to carry out the current requirements of policy as determined by the Congress. This was the original view, when the Congress was outlined in Article I.

However, as Stalin used his minor executive post to put his loyalists into the positions of power and control in Lenin's government, the ability of the President to make appointments and take care of day-to-day activities such as sending troops to fight (the Congress' exclusive right to issue a declaration of war hasn't been used since Pearl Harbor) has changed the balance of power decisively to the Presidency.

Now that election results mirror the percentages of the TV ad money spent, all government elections are controlled by the ability to raise campaign contributions which makes the Presidency an exercise in Chasing Rainbows and sharing the hope that you will capture that hope for your base all any candidate can hope for.

Hilary, Freeman's commentary is really interesting...

"...A few changes must yet pass before you act..."

Maybe apply to Obama.

Frank, I found also interesting your "chasing rainbows" analogy... maybe also apply to a president of the United States! ;-)
