I had what i took to be an out of body experience in January last year. I thought I would ask the I Ching what it thought about this...apparently these things are commoner than some would believe. So I asked the I Ching "was this an out of body experience"...i got as an answer hexagram 13 lines 1 3 4 5 changing to 23. I found line one very interesting,.."fellowship with men at the gate"...how would anyone interpret this answer? Many thanks, sparkler.:)

umm...

A gate opens and closes, the doorway to and from your body.

line 3, maybe you suppressed the experience for awhile?

line 4, limited by your reserve. Have to rethink old ideas. This is like a steel wall, which new ideas come up against.

line 5, sincerity dissolves the steel wall.

23 looks beyond or perhaps within the experience.

Sparkeler, Hi, My experience with 23.0 as of( 21/2 07)
Hi Bruce,
If this can be any help at all; you may find it intresting never the less.
My friend was hospitalized for serious pain in his upper abdomen. I ask about it in the vein of what would the outcome be for this person.
Recieveing 23.0 no changeing lines. Concolusion was that by interpertation from the text I used by Ritsema and Sabbadini, thus ..Upper trigram giving "Bound," and its discriptive terms, the outer aspects(unknowns) in this case, uncover, split, reduce to essentials, with the idiogram indication, knife and carve(crudy parallel to surgery), trenchant action, defination, incisive, forthright action. With mountian and limit and boundry as actives being the upper. [His difficulty was above the lower abdomen.]
The lower Trigram "Space"...Earth; Bound...Mountain,
Moving to the Idiogram defigned as Globe and Streach out, ...
Making this long story shorter...his diagnosis cam back to be a tourched bowel, not allowing total passage of material and serious painful complications, sent home to rest and relax and with hope that minimal activity and meds it would not require intervention.

"A near death experience in MHO is this, any interaction violent or sedentary which brings one closer to a spirital, or of you prefer cosmic consciousness, that leaves one inspired to any degree, could be something called a near death experience."

As a novice at this, I hope this is of some intrest to you.

If you take into consideration that hex 13 is a Gui Hun (returning/gathering etheral soul). Traditionaly gui hun hexagrams are considered to be associated with death and dying. Harmen Mesker discusses Hun in his eight houses paper though not in detail and it is a vast subject to discuss.

Hi sparkler,

Am wondering, based on this reading whether the yi isn't saying yes or no to this question but suggesting you get together with some people and pull it apart a little. Discussing the experience could glean deeper insights into what and why this happened.

Hex 23 splitting apart, a physical parting or perhaps a mental parting.

Thanks all for your ideas, they are very interesting...the out of body experience i had followed an intense period of grief following the loss of my adored partner. I feel it was incredible and wondrous and that it happened as a reassurance as to what lies in the life to come.
