Good day every one!

In the last couple of days I've been having a pain at the lower left back side of my rib cage, so strong I am at times finding it hard to breathe or move. It's had ups and downs so I've just taken painkillers but not seen a doctor yet. I have however worried it may be related to my kidney. I consulted the Yi about it and the response was 8.1,2,3,5 > 11, Holding Together to Peace.

Holding Together appears like a literal reference to the ribs... but with 4 changing lines I am at a loss
11 recurs as relating hex, after yesterday's reading on work, which is both interesting and presumably favourable.

How do you interpret it?

Go see a Doctor immediately. Do not mess with it! (Sunfits interpretation) ;)

Kidney
Stone

Was the onset of the pain sudden? In the 24 hours preceding the onset of pain, had you eaten food high in oxalates like a spinach salad or chocolate? Two thirds of kidney stones are oxalates. Change your diet and take a small dose of B6 daily.

Magnesium is often recommended, but I can't take it. For me it's a bladder irritant. You have my sympathy. A kidney stone feels like you have been shot in the back, and the pain is located at a point you can put your finger on. When I had a kidney stone 30 years ago, I didn't go to a doctor. I changed my diet and began taking a small amount of B6 daily. 15mg is enough, but the smallest tablets sold are 50mg. A doctor can give you a pain shot that will enable you to function in daily life, but you will need to make changes to avoid further stones. A tendency to stones often runs in the family.

A kidney stone?!

I had one some 20 years ago, and recall the pain was much sharper, absolutely unbearable. I was hoping the present pain would be muscle or nerve related... No, I did not have any unusual food the days before it began. But I'm having other symptoms which make me believe something is just not right.

I'm hoping hex 11 is auspicious anyway. Thanks for the input Tom. Will keep you guys posted.

If you're sure it's not a stone, I agree with Sunfit. Got to a doctor.

No, I'm not sure. As I said other symptoms make me believe it could well be the case. Let's see what the doctor says tomorrow...

Update

I saw the doctor, and based on the different symptoms I had she confirmed it indeed was a minor kidney stone, or, as she put it, "some sand" :)

So yes, hex 8 was a good image, though in my opinion inverted compared to pocossin's interpretation (the upper trigram was the stone, and the lower the kidney).

In the meantime the pain and the other symptoms have however spontaneously disappeared almost completely - which I believe was the omen of the resulting hex 11 ("The small departs").

I'm happy the Yi was right ;)

My associations were = water = kidney. = earth = stone. How did you link the upper trigram to stone, and the lower to kidney. Did you take as pain and as the organ in which the pain occurs?

My association was merely visual:
☷ = a filter (kidney)
☵ = an obstructed filter
