This is based on something that was mentioned to me the other day....
When I divorced I was in no fit emotional state to know what was what although after the court proceedings I found out my husband had kept money hidden so I wouldn't get access to it. All legal apparently.

What do I need to know about my finances in the near future

63 means that things are in the right place right now. (You consulted the Yi about your financial situation, so there's a good chance the Yi is talking about money.)

63.2 says not to go chasing after what you've lost - it'll come back. Again, if it's talking about finances, it's saying that you'll be where you were before. (Not the money your ex hid from you necessarily, you understand.)

And of course, the message if 5 is one which people don't like to hear: Wait.

So, put it together: Things are exactly how they need to be, don't go chasing after what you've lost, wait, you'll get what you had before.

Well, you've already exposed some of your situation on this site, but I doubt that's it (but maybe - it helps to talk about painful stuff usually). Might it mean talking to certain people about the situation? Friends? Lawyers? Counsellors? Maybe it simply refers to the truth of your situation which you weren't aware of at the time, but now it's been exposed ('something that was mentioned to me the other day').

Oh - a whole lot of Corruption!!

The corruption imaged in 18 is an important factor in the situation, but the main direction of 18 is to work on what's been spoiled. The message is 'this situation is corrupt, but you are excellently positioned to make things right'. Interesting. When you ask about the money, it says 'don't sweat it, hang tight' but when you ask about the divorce it says 'act - supreme success'. Although, even here, 18 counsels pausing before you act. Get your ducks lined up. I don't know if you're in a position to challenge/correct the divorce settlement, but if that's a possibility, then you might consider that as something the Yi could be pointing to.

Disclaimer: This take is based on very slender data, so it could be way off. You know way more about the context than I do, and when it comes to I Ching interpretation, context is what makes the consultation clear. But from what you've presented, it's plausible.

Thank you. Yes not easy to interpret with little to go on.
The reading may not even be about money related to our divorce or his corruptness so I'll just have to Wait!!
To get back to where I once was would take a whole lotta cash!!
Or in more recent times not so much cash but still a solid amount.
Waiting, waiting.....

H18 does not specifically address corruption. It is about working on and fixing things from the past that are no longer applicable.

The reading may not even be about money related to our divorce or his corruptness

Nowhere does the answer say he is corrupt. H18 may very well relate to yourself. That the advice is that you need to work on past issues.

The story I’m seeing here is that at the end of the divorce you got ripped off (63.Completions, 63.2 losing vail) and now you are waiting (5) to see how this will effect your finances in the near future. While it sounds like the loss is not likely to be justified immediately it does seem promising for regaining what’s yours eventually.
As to what the divorce has to do with your finances I see 18 as saying don’t dwell on the idea of loss. Rouse yourself and move on.

To clarify - the divorce was 14 years ago and I've never regained financially what I once had.
I've had nothing to do with him since as my kids were old enough to communicate with him themselves and made their own arrangements to spend time with him. Now they're all adults in their late 20s.
I feel I already accepted my financial fate long ago, although after I regained my emotional clarity I realised he had definitely ripped me off. I don't believe there's anything I can or could have done about it.
Someone that knows him, recently told me that I only got a portion of what I should have and authorities are looking into it. Not much else was said as I honestly don't believe after 14 years I'll suddenly get what's owed to me.

Mystery solved.
I'm guessing the exposed bit is about my name being exposed as being underpaid in the government organisation record.
He apparently underpaid me by a few $ re domestics but to cross t's and dot i's they have to refund me.
Doesn't take away the fact that he did rip me off in the divorce but that's a whole other issue best forgotten.
