I’ve picked up a new casual job I start on Monday but yesterday they also interviewed me for a permanent position. I stuffed up one of the interview questions which could mean I miss out on the job becoming permanent. What do I need to know about the casual position becoming a permanent one. Hexagram 38.6>54... 54 describes how I feel about my stuff up as I feel I’ve put myself in a secondary position. Hexagram 38 describes the Opposition I also feel I’ve put myself In although Line 6 looks like I’m worrying about nothing.

The moving line always takes precedence over the hexagrams, if there's a conflict.

It's kind of like the hexagrams are a map, and the moving line(s) are pins stuck in the map, marking your exact location.

In this case, I think the desert-oasis analogy holds up well. 38 changing to 54, Opposition changing to Marrying Maiden (as you said, a subordinate) seems quite bleak. But as you said, the moving line sounds much more encouraging.

I certainly can't say it means you'll get this particular job immediately, but everything isn't ruined.

Well actually they're all Hilary's analogies and I repeated them without mentioning where they came from... sheesh

Hooray and congratulations! :claps:

(I wonder what the outcome might tell you about the reading? Yi has various ways of saying "it'll be fine," so it might be instructive at some point, if you have time, to try figuring out why Yi gave you this one.)
