Personal finances and Hex 39

I'm going through a very tough pass on the financial front, striving to be constructive and avoid panicking. Business (freelance) is very slow, as for many others due to the economic situation, and expenses have grown a lot since the separation with my spouse (who contributes nothing).

So I asked the Yi "what can I do to improve my financial situation", and got 39.3 to 8. I understand the changing line as my being on a path where I am blocked, and it does often feel that way. The advice of turning back (and 8 seeking union) is not even on the radar if it means getting back together with my ex.

So I aked a follow-up, "what is the type of path that would enable me to progress financially?" and received 48.3.5 to 7. Not surprised that the Yi responded with the Well and advising to line up my ducks (contacts, resources etc.), yet that is what I have been doing without visible progress to date.

So I asked a last question, "what is the nature of the blockage?" and the Yi's responded again with 39, this time with lines 3 and 4 changing to 45. LiSe says for line 3 to discard everything I don't want and for line 4 to be genuinely myself rather than trying to adapt. Which is what my recent decisions have been all about!

It feels like the Yi is stuck going around in circles as I am ! Am I missing an insight that would help me get my head above water on the financial front?

Dear flashlight,

It is no surprise that you got Hex 39 as it does describe your current situation and feelings. But the lines and relating hexagrams in fact address your questions in terms of what to do to unblock and progress.

I think that the Y is telling you that you cannot sort things out on your own, it appears that some sort of support is needed. I wonder if you have access to professional advice from community services and/or local organisations that you don't need to pay. Or the support could come from people close to you that you can trust and count on. Maybe family or friends. The Y is also saying that you need to change your approach.

Hex 48 changing lines are showing that the resources to improve your current financial problems are available and you are probably overlooking the options you have and missing opportunities.

Hello Mirian,
Thank you for your input. I've been pondering your response since last night.
Unfortunately, I do not have any family left. Fortunately, I do have wonderful friends who offer TLC and moral support, which helps but doesn't pay the bills!
You say the Yi is suggesting I should change my approach and I'm trying to figure out how to do that. I've remained optimistic and proactive for months, things have caught up with me recently and I've found myself in a royal destabilizing panick. That's probably not very helpful, but sometimes it's hard to stay "up" when you hit a wall full force! Maybe the change of approach is simply to get back to being my positive joyful self??
Not sure what options I may be overlooking, but I'm going to review the list today.
What I do obeserve is that mercury is retrograde, and I get particularly whacked by those!

I was looking into your reading again and my experience with Hex 39 and the changing lines is really telling me that somehow the improvement of your financial situation depends on support, connection with others that can help in a way or another, some sort of network that is needed.
I cannot tell how this help would work in practice, I am afraid. It could be commercial/financial advice or making the right business connections or ideas that you hadn't thought by yourself, or even one person in particular that could be the key to re-start the progress. It is clear to me that other people will play an important part.
I also see that your current approach need changing. Maybe because you have been so worried that you are now going again and again through the same process, repeating the same strategies, which it gives you the sense you mentioned in your post "going round in circles".
Your reading is also telling me that there is salvation The resources are somehow available to you, the solutions are probably closer to you than you think, it is just that you cannot see at the moment and take advantage of what is available to your benefit.

That is my view, anyway, I think that Y is addressing your questions in a practical way in line with your need to get yourself out of this situation and put your financial life back on track.

Yeah, it's hard to say (or hint) to people in a professional network "I need...", as Rule 1 in personal marketing and business development is the reverse and any sort of pity/compassion is to be avoided like the plague. But I called a couple of former clients I felt particularly in tune/friendly with, to catch up with them, we should be having lunch in the not too distant future, and maybe that will help unblock some things.

A friend offered a loan, but I really do not want to go that route unless my back is wholly up against the wall. Those gestures tend to backfire and ruin good relationships.

Am also giving myself a swift kick in the butt again (ouch!), wallowing is not really in my nature, but the last few weeks have been just too much (I'm only human!).

It feels good to be able to work with the Yi and to have responses with the kind and smart people on this forum :bows:
