I started off my daily routine and got the following results. I think I can understand the progression up until the last, hex 48 unchanging.

Most of my motivation in consulting the Iching has been driven by a desire to better understand myself and what I would like to do for a living (other than my current career)...Though I consult the Iching for other reasons as well. The question I started with is very general so I'm not sure if it relates to personal or professional matters. Any insight and experience you might have to share is warmly welcomed. Thank you!!!

How shall I conduct myself today?
8.1>3

Do I have the qualities to lead such a group as mentioned in hex 8?
43.3>58

What will this synthesis of people look like?
45.3.4.5>15

In the beginning, will is this convergence be more of a professional or personal situation?
48 unchanging

How did it go for you? Were you able to see how your readings gave insight or advice for your day? Do you still need further assistance in translation of any of your questions? It might help if you just ask 1 question at a time when you post your thread, that way the viewers are not overwhelmed at the site of so many questions. :)

Yea, thanks for asking. I went back through that series of readings in detail just now. Iy seems like the gathering of people was a few of my students who asked for extra help before their unit tests the following day.

Hex 8 - joining together. Those uncertain will eventually join. (the number of kids staying after for extra help increased throughout the day. Also, a kid that had stayed after for something else joined the group around 4:30. I really just wanted to go home after work, and after the group I had last year my spirit to help was somewhat broken (hell of a year it was). But the kids asking for help were all dedicated and worth taking the time. So i ended up staying there until around 5:30. Felt fine when I left though, not at all exhausted or dreary.

Hex 43 - some of it I see connected to the above description. Regarding the potential for an angry display, it could related to any number of interactions throughout the day. One kid comes to mind, he's very passive aggressive, and ive been able avoid any problems with. Like an exceedingly slow punch in the dream sequence of some 1980's movie I feel like I see his 'state' of opposition and attitude trying to surface...it's like fishing...he tries to cast some lines out and hopes for a snag. It can disrupt everything in the class if it happens, which is just generally a pain in the ass.

Hex 45 - "This is an important Convergence, and you must be part of it.
Look for the Center of this convergence.
Like waters running to the sea, like an astronomical convergence of planets revolving around the sun, you should let the gravity of this Center draw you near."

Like mentioned before I kind of had hoped to just go home after work but I felt my help was needed and deserved so I stayed late.

Hex 48 - seems like it could be a richer description of the whole situation, maybe.

I think the 48 is saying it's a social thing, concerning rather fixed social needs and wants.

Thanks Ginnie,

Interesting, any particular reason why you feel it's social..just the way you read 48 in general?

Generally speaking, the well is a public thing that is used by the whole community. It is also fixed in place, not movable. These are a couple of characteristics of the Well that caused me to comment that it was social. But maybe it does not always have that character, as the I Ching can mean many things, on many different levels, as you know. In terms of the question you asked, maybe my answer would have been clearer if I had just said "professional" as opposed to "personal." That certainly seems to be borne out by your story about your day. You acted as a resource for the students and you didn't end up weary or all worn out. You were not diminished by helping the students, even though you stayed late.
