"what if X gave X to another loving family"

33.3.4 >20

Line 3

'Tied retreat. There is affliction, danger.
Nurturing servants and handmaidens, good fortune.'

I interpret line 3 as saying this is complicated/potentially painful and to try retaining the dog (the dog being the "servant" here I think? haha)

Line 4

'Loving retreat.
Noble one, good fortune.
Small people, blocked.'

I interpret line 4 as saying while this decision might for a higher purpose it would still be very difficult. Would have to be for a truly right reason. (This line I'm not totally sure of what it means to be honest)

i mostly agree with your interpretation. i wonder though if 33.3 suggest to acquire some servants, in the sense of extra dog walker or some help in keeping the dog happy. not sure what's the reason for rehoming but maybe this could point to the need of extra help. i think 33.4 could be about the owners (is it the first X?) decision to keep the dog that comes with opposition of other people. Bradford translates this line as "elective retreat", so it's either the choice to retain the dog or the choice to let the dog go (but only to whom X chooses appropriate future owner) and the consequences of either decision. 20 could mean this needs a wider perspective and more things to be considered before the decision is made.

This could be a response asking you to carefully review (20) and look at your involvement in this matter and consider withdrawing (33) by passing responsibility to others (33.3) and distancing yourself from the petty people who may not see your involvement in a positive light if you continue (33.4)...... and then again it might not mean that at all.

Good Luck

I could definitely see that and it’s helpful. It’s for health reasons, difficulty caring for the dog, but no desire to part with the dog apart from that. Having more help with the dog would certainly solve at least part of that. I think it’s also true to say that many more details have to unfold before a decision would be made, so it also could just be too early to ask. Thanks for your input!

Thanks for your reply. I’ll definitely think over and see how it could relate... passing responsibility to others could maybe also relate to the dog/help with the dog perhaps.
