Progress and 8 Unchanging

Hey everyone,

To keep it short, I had been trying to influence a personal situation. I was just curious on how I am progressing towards my goal and got 8 unchanging. I am not sure how to take that. Does it mean I am too attached to the outcome? Or could it mean something else? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I like hexagram 8, and would view it as auspicious. It is one of the only hexagrams which ask one to "inquire of the oracle again", and to be well on time :

HOLDING TOGETHER brings good fortune.
Inquire of the oracle once again
Whether you possess sublimity, constancy, and perseverance;
Then there is no blame.
Those who are uncertain gradually join.
Whoever comes too late
Meets with misfortune.

Since there are no changing lines here, the hexagram's meaning as a whole, "Holding Together" or "Union", should be taken as the message. I would say your influence is working. Just keep a sharp eye on how things are unfolding....:bows:

I am curious though about the line stating that I should inquire the oracle again. Does it mean to inquire again right away, to inquire as I am going along to check progress, or does it mean something else?

Well, in some translations, it is very literal, as in "make a second reading". In others, such as Wilhelm, it is a bit more symbolic, as in, "look deep within to make certain that you are on the right track, firm and correct in thinking", etc. Best wishes.

So it's meaning, at least according to Wilhelm, is that I need to be sure this is the road I want to travel? Is it like a "Careful what you wish for" type of situation? Sorry for all the questions, but I am not well versed at all in reading these answers. At least not yet lol.

In the last two lines of the reading it says whoever comes too late meets with misfortune. In ways I feel as if it's telling me to act now, but I don't want to act on anything prematurely. Is it more saying that I just need to be aware of and grasp the opportunity when it arises?

Yes, to your first paragraph. That is my understanding of it.
As to your second, it is often rendered "be well on time", and I think it is not so much telling you to rush (which would be foolish) as it is telling you to prepare in a timely manner.:bows:
