Just an FYI: the link you sent in your email to reset the password is problematic, because it seems that what happens is that when you try to log in using the old forum username/password, it half logs you in. It doesn't seem that anything has happened, because you still get presented with a log in option, but in fact something has happened. Because when you go to the reset password link in your email, it takes you to a logged-in page, from which you cannot reset your password (only change it -- but you need to reset your password). So I had to log out, then say I lost my password, then reset, and now it all works.

Btw so far forum looks great -- big improvement!

(and whoops, another issue... in the above, I italicized the word reset, and it shows up here in the editing window, but NOT in the actual message)

  • Hm, no apparently not. What about bold? Or how
  • about
  • lists?
Not an unmixed success with formatting, then. I think this is one for a support ticket.

(Updated to add: yes, this is a problem with the customised template we're using. The formatting is all there, it just doesn’t display. This means I need to ask the man who made the template, who did promise continuing support after I paid him. Fingers crossed...)

Another issue is that I have a (1) in the title bar next to the name of this tab... which I think suggests that I have a notification... but I have absolutely no idea how to access that notification.

First look in the 'Community' menu, where you'll see little icons for conversations and alerts - with numbers on when there's a new one.

While you're there, visit 'forum settings' and you can control how these alerts arrive, including with browser push notifications, so they can be as visible or as unobtrusive as you like.

Is there still a way to edit posts? (Not seeing it...)

Got it, thanks. Might I suggest, if it's an option, to put these kinds of notifications somehow at the top of every page of the forums? It's just that most other forums do this, so that people might be used to that (e.g. vbforum, etc.).

The link didn't work so well for me, so I just logged in and then changed my password and now I'm here, so it seems it worked.

Dobro! Far too long since we last saw you here. Hello!

No 'edit' link under each post for you? Let me check...

Heh, true. I tucked them away in the menu to match what was done in our previous incarnation and avoid clutter, and now you have me rethinking this.

I checked (there is a handy admin utility that lets me check an individual member's permissions) and yes, you can edit your posts. Look just underneath each post, on the left, for the link.
