The question posed is...

"Is my life truly fated by the 'compatibility' of the hexagrams, and Chinese astrology? How do I respond to this?"

I have asked this because of my feelings about the purported "compatibility" with regards to intimate relationships as explained by both Chinese astrology, and the Feng Shui based system of hexagram compatibility (meaning F1/F2/F3/F4 and H1/H2/H3/H4).

I feel that the readings given by these particular systems are ones that make it seem rather frightening if you find that you are somehow not compatible. I feel very frustrated to try and evaluate the possibility of a new partner based on these systems, and I am currently interested and happy with someone at present with whom I am apparently not compatible. I want this relationship to continue very much and I keep feeling bothered by the apparent "seriousness" of what they say.

Upon examining these lines:

7.3 - Perchance the army carries corpses in the wagon.
Misfortune.

7.4 - The army retreats. No blame.

While it changes to 32 - DURATION, I have to say that...I am lost on the meaning of this reading. Normally I can get a much clearer understanding from my usual answers, but this one unfortunately eludes me.

Is it asking that I simply accept that these universal laws are true and ultimately impacting on relationships? Is it saying that I am worrying about it excessively? Perhaps it is telling me to be strong in the situations that expose these incompatibilities?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Can't anyone say something to this? Is this too complex to interpret?

This is in regards to a relationship by the way, and there is a sense of urgency. Are any of the long-timers willing to help me out, please?

Hi Guard,

This is difficult, not because the reading is difficult to interpret, but because your original question is based on precepts which seem to be established already in your mind. Can we assume the Yi complies with those terms?

Is my life truly fated by the 'compatibility' of the hexagrams, and Chinese astrology? How do I respond to this?"

How indeed. Beginning with the idea of collecting forces, say, in order to keep the body free of free radicals and deteriorating agents, the lines become a sort of field guide in the army manual you were given - such as astrology maps, charts, and instructions to delineate.

What appears to be happening in your case is that there's dead cells (literal or figurative) that you're carrying around, and that retreating, for the time, will result in the least casualties.

32 appears to me as a welcomed sense of order and stability, like a worthy craft, being on course with the stars, which are like ships themselves, sailing across a galaxy. Maybe they use you for their relative fixes on their navigational charts! Though probably not, as we don't stay in one place predictably. We have this somewhat impetuous will that reaches out, beyond mere survival, 'to go where no man has boldly gone before.' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6R3MiAv9ac

Oh, sorry, about fate............... *sound of crickets*

I read my answer this morning after having posted it very early this morning after waking from sleep. I think sometimes I may be better off not writing at that time, since I'm never sure if I'm awake or sleeping. Later when I read it, I thought my answer was too spacey, until I re-read the multifaceted question.

If this is about your girlfriend, and not the universal scheme of things, then why not just ask about that? Or if it is a philosophical question, ask about that. That could even be an interpretation for your 7-32. Stabilize the equilibrium of your thoughts and your question, put all extraneous stuff aside. No point in carrying corpses or ghosts into the equation.

I dont think any life is fated by the astrological/hexagram readings...I think your reading tells you that it is wise to know inherent difficulties and you might expect them, might need to need to try harder, be very focused. Dificulties do not doom a relationship, but they will need to be overcome, not foolishly ignored. With careful pausing and regrouping of your energy, you carry on and persevere. Trust your heart with this relationship- don't, as Bruce says, carry corpses into the relationship.
