Hello,

about a month ago, me and my boyfriend split up. He decided he wanted to end things. I wanted to have another go, but he is convinced it will be the same as before.

We speak on the phone occasionaly, the conversations are good and amicable, but it's always me who calls. I think he doesn't want to give me a wrong impression about his intentions, so he doesn't call.

A few days ago, I asked the I Ching, whether it is a good thing for our relationship for me to call him again soon. I got 2 and the moving line on the 5th place, and then 8. So obviously, it's best for me to be passive, but I'm not sure what the 8 means.

I got a call from him yesterday, turns out he called me by accident ...

I asked the I Ching today to tell me about the situation with him. I got 3 and the moving line in the 1st place. And then again 8!

So this time, I'm not sure if 3 means total passivity or perhaps some action but without much expectation? And this 8 ... What am I supposed to "enquire again" about? :)

For 2.5>8 I don't see as passive. Just 8 unity (you calling) and 2 receptive (he answers). Line 5 you remain centered and in the middle. Your second reading seems to be around the same meaning. Line 1 of 3 you remain humble and centered. 8 is untiy, sometimes amongst friends, sometimes within ourself. 2 sets out to do work and is receptive. 3 puts out seeds and does the work to bring about growth for a later harvest. In 3 all you can do is try your best. Who knows which seeds will grow or take root.
