I'm going to throw this one out here for a couple of friends of mine and also my parents.

There's some difficulty with the Northern Rock building society over in the UK and I asked IC if she could give some advice to folks with savings in this bank:

30.4.6 > 36

Will the situation improve or worsen?

58.4 > 60

I interpret this as staying with the bank as it's only a temporary downturn. It'll right itself. Don't panic. Eventually, after this crisis it may be advisable to find other avenues. Meantime, there'll be advantages and disadvantages to the situation as it begins to stabilize.

Anyone care to offer some alternative interpretations? Not sure about mine.

"I asked IC if she could give some advice to folks with savings in this bank:

Suggests the problem came about fairly quickly, it will get coverage, then it will die down. The bank will have to sort the problem out by itself, so as not to affect its customers, maybe a senior official is going to be sacked. remain with the bank but always be prepared, so in this time of doubt remain confident.

Will the situation improve or worsen?

58.4 > 60" You, or somebody else, the bank, is worried and unsure what to do but just relax as everything will turn out okay. Hex 60 is about limitations and in this case self restraint, so don't get carried away as the bank knows how to limit any damage that it may have incurred, and there will be a successful outcome.

Many thanks WF - that was more or less my thoughts on the matter. Good to have a second opinion.

I have been looking at Hex 58.4 again, it says that the bank has to make a choice that will prove to be beneficial to it in the long run, so perhaps going to the Bank of England was not the best option for a short term solution.

Hex 60 is about limitations as well you know but it is saying that the bank needs to cut back on its expenditures to remain solvent. They have taken on to much and this needs to be rectified by using moderation, so some sacrifices are going to have to be made and soon. The bank needs to decide its priorities because they cannot go on as they are, certain things wil have to be given up to ensure a brighter future.

The latest I've seen is that The Bank of England have stepped in to support Northern Rock financially, so the situation looks like it will not get out of hand. There has been a bit of panic action with people taking their money out of NR, but long term it looks like the investors will be OK.

Thanks WF and Mike for the added info. I'll pass it on.

I think the Bank of England is behind the vast majority of large economic policies world wide not just the UK. Northern Rock is a blip on the economic landscape but an important signpost nonetheless. There appears to be more and more unrest in the markets and many big investors dropping the dollar. There are indications of a major economic meltdown in the near future sourced from an unstable dollar and a massive trillions of debt in the US which is ultimately unsustainable. This will have sporadic effects on European bankers but they are preparing for that eventuality and a gradual displacement of the dollar itself.

my 2 cents

Hi all,

I studied a bit 58.4 with the help of Bradford's matrix translation and Eranos I Ching.

Could sound like this:

negotiated
trade
not
tranquil
limit
rush
to attain
gratification

Which seems to me simply a mirror of the actual situation, that is, if anxiety is kept under control, then no problems should arise.

However Yi does not say what will happen if anxiety is not kept under control....
