I don't see why you should avoid X. With 48.3 > 29 it looks more as an opportunity. Whatever it is available, it sounds beneficial, I don't think that it would be harmful. With 29 as relating hexagram, maybe an opportunity to learn, to deal with challenges?

I've seen 48 a lot when it comes to broken relationships, when the consultant is wondering if it is of any worth the effort to rebuild it. Is that the case with this question?

Now, since this is more a question for insight rather than a predictive one, I'd use the text-based approach. I'll use my personal adaptation (both hexagrams as 2 forces directing the change, and the individual lines as advice for which one of those 2 forces is best to feed):

In 48zhi29 you need to decide whether this relation/situation is a dangerous abyss (29) or just a neglected well (48). Keep in mind that it would be sorrowful to avoid drawing water from a well - once it's renewed- due to lack of enlightment (nine in the third place of hex 48).

Wish you the best

The line 48.3 shows that there is water but noone drinks from it especially X and so why the danger of 29.

I think you have feelings for X but you are so sad because X ignores you.. right? You should avoid X otherwise your heart is in danger.

When it comes to interpretation it helps if we know more about the situation.

I just received the same reading about a job offer (teaching) in a conflict zone. While the area itself is meant to be safe, I am more concerned that the school is completely new and that the local admin don't really have an idea what to do, and thus things could be uncomfortable chaotic. The changing line seems to indicate the though the well is purified, nobody comes to drink from it, which is sad and basically the King's fault (poor advertising? unsure direction?). Repeated Chasms in conclusion would seem to mean the situation is indeed dangerous, and I will have to think on my feet.

In general I don't see any reason to avoid a situation, rather the opposite, but be careful.
