Slightly sad about this reading 40.4 - 7, misguided or no?

Hi all! This is my second post, just a new username, and I come to you today with a question about a guy. Surprise surprise!

So there's a man I've grown to have a bit of a crush on. The circumstances surrounding the situation are pretty strange and unique, and I can go more in depth if that's needed, but I asked basically what is the potential here?

The interpretation I read placed 40.4 as a line that suggests you dismiss any attitude of mistrust, but other translations say it's about an attempt to connect with someone who just isn't that invested in you. Bummer :/ I see facets of both working for my situation so I thought I'd ask y'all!

It's a combination of 40 letting go of conceptions and expectations on what's to happen and 7 of using discipline... The soldiers of your mind that work with 40 to stabilize any obsessive needs that will not allow you to let him have his truth, allow you to see his or your own. Ie: sometimes the way a dynamic plays out is based in games that aren't really obvious but when you let your own expectations free 40.4, you see you and the other person and the situation and yourself pretty clearly. Often, people are drawn by others that seem mysterious or charming but it's really the same way we're drawn to shiny baubles and street performers. Because the person we 'like' or crush on is right next to us, we fail to see the performance. Not that you got 16 so I'm not saying he or you are performing, just that 40 is useful advice for most starting relationships really.
