61 could mean that deep insite you know exactly how to get rit of the standstill, as long as you look at in time... 20 gives you the tip of doing that by getting a bit less involved, to get a bit distant from the subject and 'watch'... Maybe meditation will help? Do not try to hard, though, because then you are not 'you',,, As 61 tells you to search for it in your own way, and only because of the insecurity do 'think' that you can't find it, you think it's not there... But how can you NOT find anything which is already there :-D. Keep looking, in your time and manners :-D...

Frank's response sounds right-on to me. I would take the readings as a big pat on the back from the Yi and a large reassurance that you do have the answers inside. I hear it as saying, "Tune in. Don't be focused on the external; use this time as a way of reconnecting with yourself. You *do* have a deep truth within you, and it is accessible to you. You don't need to take big actions on the outside, you don't need to make any dramatic changes. Just calm down, take a deep breath, and tune in." Meditation sprang to my mind too. Long walks? A meditative activity like knitting? Do whatever works for you, to calm yourself down and be able to listen to your inner voices.

I know exactly how it feels. I recall a VERY long time when I only got answeers like "Not Yet", "Don't cross the great waters", "Do NOT act" and so on. It is very frustrating and it is impossible not to want some miraculous advice come down to you, so you can walk out into the stream of life with power and creativity. To me though it was necessary to be held back.

Afterall its not so bad for you.

20 is Viewing. That does not only mean looking into your self but also "inspecting on-all-sides". But center yourself, be aware of what is happening in and outside you, and prepared to act when the right time comes, with overwiew and consideration.

61 Centering Conforming "bringing your central concerns and your life situaiton into a sincere and reliable accord" This an advantageus divination. Centering yourself, finding trustworthiness, and acting - wading the great river.

You ask what to do and you get some very generel answers. If you want some more specific answers pose some more specific questions. If you do not know what the specific question should be - try some meditation, walks etc. Finding the right question can be the hardest part of the divination process.

I'm sorry you feel a bit down here. Please hang in there as you are trying to look for the answers insite you... I know how dificult that can feel, as I had a standstill too... But to my own experiences it realy comes to you when you take a bit time for it, even when you are frustrated because this time feels as a standstill for you... As Gua 12 (Standstill) has Gua 53, Gradual Development as the nuckle-core a 'standstill' actually NEVER stands still :-D.
Please, feel free to do things on your own time and in your own way, as Gua 61 realy is about "you" insite... Stay relaxed and joyfull (as the lake is the lower trigram) and take a soft way in aproaching this (wind is the upper trigram). Be kind to yourself... Do not hurt your inner core with meditation if that is not the way for you... Do what YOU want to do best, for getting calm insite... And do not overcompensate, like "o gosh, I have to sit down and listen now...", because then it will not work...:-D Try to have fun in it :-D. Like what you do... Maybe go on a holiday or something as 20 says to get a bit distant from the whole thing to look better to it... Make it all a bit relaxing and fun for yourself, enjoy that you have the answers...

I get the feeling part of you is saying, the answers are not coming as fast as I would like. And this is certainly understandable. Hexagram 61 is telling you in a sense, let the circumstances do their work on you until they have taught you what you need to learn. This can take time. This may be a "dark night of the soul" that you will need to go through, and it may take some time. Like the "Children of Israel in the wilderness." Or the temptation of Christ in the wilderness. One can only wait for the time to be through. It seems to me hexagram 20 is saying, in order to understand this ordeal, you are going to have to stand on the mountaintop. (Hexagram 20 is the Ken trigram with doubled lines.) In otherwords, this will be an ordeal that will give you greater illumination once the situation has passed on. The answers will likely not come quickly or easily, but when they do come, you will be a deeper and more insightful person. (Hex 61)

In Wilhelms version of the IC, Hexagram 20 is about expanding things out to an exaggerated level in order to see the miscroscopic elements that operate in the situation. I notice the comedy does just this; it exaggerates the elements in a situation to the point of being ridiculous, but you nevertheless get a wholesome perspective of the real issue when you have done this. So comtemplation can benefit from exaggeration. I would try to approach your current standstill with a bit of humor, and see if that doesn't shake off some of the negativity that has you in a rut.

Also, one of the things I find MOST beneficial when I am stagnating is I purposely and energetically look for someone to help. It doesn't matter if they deserve help or that there is anything in it for you. Just the fact that you are helping, you are generating good karma and getting some forces moving in your own chi, and this could lead out of the standstill.
