Since this is my first post I'll do a bit of an introduction to my I-Ching connection, I have consulted the I-Ching many times throughout the past 10 years, I have one family member who runs a business and consults it frequently, says it influences his decisions, he has a pretty successful business, and then I started using it too and I see that there is a remarkable consistency to the readings you get, but I never dived too deep into learning and understanding what the **** I am reading.

I might be misunderstanding it, I actually often skip the actual reading and just read the headline and of course that's why I'm here, to study it and I am very curious and interested to really see what I can learn about how this thing works and how the laws that bind the result of random coin tosses or generated results is connected to mindset, reality and so on.

So I am currently living as a foreigner in an Asian country and I am thinking about staying or leaving it, after living here for almost three years now. And the question was "Is staying in this country worth the effort?".

The answer is 8.1.3 to 63.

I have received this reading, "Seeking Union" many times before while living here and more so recently, both as the first reading and also as the reading that it changes to. But the reading has come up with frequency, out of maybe 8-10 consultations this year, it is intriguing that the result would come up repeatedly and how it sounds like it fits the situation. It doesn't always comes with the same changing results and I recall it has appeared before as a changing result.

There are many good opportunities in this country and I took advantage of some in the past and also missed on some. But now I'm not sure if I should keep going. "Seeking Union" sounds like it fits the situation because of course, as a foreigner you have to find your home in this new place, followed by "Already Across", from an I-Ching layman's perspective, sounds like I'm staying and this isn't even really a choice at all, which kind of fits as well, maybe? It's not like I can just bolt out of here anytime, really, but I sure could make the moves to make it happen.

I am slightly clueless when it comes to the I-Ching jargon.
Line 1 says
"With truth and confidence to overflow the vessel
An end comes – further good fortune.'"

Sounds good. Don't know what this is about though. It does end in further good fortune, I'm not sure the previous good fortune was established.

Line 3 says
'Seeking union with non-people.'
I don't know what this means.

Hexagram 63, "Already Across" says that
Constancy bears fruit.
Beginnings, good fortune – endings, chaos.'

The description fits well with this, there's a lot to say about constancy, a lot to say about keep going, keep rolling and the results will come for the reasons, so related to the question, the reasons I came to this country are still there.

Advices are welcomed and I thank you in advance.

There is an old saying in the UK that 'Home is where the heart is' and it sounds from your question that your heart is not fully in where you abide now - 'Is it worth the effort?'

Hex 8 calls for a forming of new groups with those of kindred spirit and calls as much for a focus on how you think about the people you are grouped with now - your attitudes and approach to them - as looking for a new group elsewhere. If your attitudes to the people around you are not appropriate now then what is going to be different about your approach even if you move to another country?

Maybe the union you are seeking is a re-balance within yourself ... or maybe not. Only you will really know.

8.1 - Seeking Union starts with being true to yourself. Once you are true to yourself there is no mistake. And what follows is good fortune upon good fortune.
8.3 - Non-people can mean many things. They may be real people who are not supportive of you but that you always try to mix with (bad influences) or even that part of yourself that always produces a negative thought, attitude or behaviour. Maybe even the part of you that feels the victim in some way. These negative supports can take you away from being the best that you can be in body, mind and spirit.

63 - there is a sense in this hexagram of putting things right, more like how they should be. Maybe by asking the question you have already started the ball rolling towards ways you can create a new life for yourself: one that will be more satisfying for you

... or it may be nothing at all like this for you.

Good Luck.

How seriously are you considering leaving? Have you taken any concrete steps to leave? I ask because (and I could be wrong about this!) this casting is either saying that you simply are not aligned with the people/culture where you are and that you’re essentially already leaving, in your heart and mind etc like the decision has been made and it’s time to act. OR it could be referring to the trip you took to where you already are, that you’re “already across”, so to speak, so now it’s about refining how you go about being there. Either way, there’s a strong message about the wrong people, or ill-fitting connections. Depending on what you want to do ultimately, stay or go, maybe you could ask how to find the right people and/or your place where you are? Or what the block is to that?

These are some interesting answers and many thanks for you two for taking the time. Those two parts that I cut out in particular made me think about how this entire thing works - your focus on a question, a thought, an idea and the I-Ching result is influenced by it.

I think if we apply the answer to the question as it is I think it would be saying that I am not a good fit with the people in the country where I am, after all I am asking about this country as my home.

But here is the context that is interesting in my view, at the time I asked this question I wanted to leave my job and the reason for that is mostly because I didn't think I was a good fit there - the job itself was a fair enough deal and I was good at it, but the coworkers were not a good fit - not really their fault though, but I felt I was done with it, that it took a turn to the wrong direction and I was over with it.
So, I am actually leaving this job and I have another one in line and I will start soon, the confirmation of the new job came in this meantime between posting here 2 days ago, but really I wasn't feeling too anxious about finding a new job, more like ready to move on for whatever comes next.

So I am just thinking now about how the job situation, which of course influenced the question, fits the interpretation so well.

But of course, as you two have emphasized, it might not have anything to do with it.

And naturally, I will be biased. It's hard or impossible to be impartial, so I see something that fits here but maybe there really isn't anything.

How seriously are you considering leaving? Have you taken any concrete steps to leave?

No I have not taken any concrete steps. Considered leaving seriously as in, being aware of what it would take and gain/lose balance financially and relationship-wise. And the world's situation and context, you know.

These interpretations apparently fit in a lot of ways with the situation or so I see that way.
The non-people referring to a part of myself causing issues is interesting. Never would I think of that. I don't feel as a victim. I strongly feel that there are people who wasted my time and were uncooperative and unproductive for their own petty reasons and I am really angry at them, but maybe the situation could have been avoided to begin with.
