Hi there,

I've been offered a renewal of my contract at a kids theatre. I think I should have a significant pay rise but they are only offering quite a small one. The thing is I am freelance and at the moment winter is a very quiet time for me workwise because I also work as a gardener and there is very little work at that time. And I enjoy it, quite a bit. But it is very tiring as well (maybe particularly at the moment since we have lots of shows on so very long and late rehearsals).

I asked:

Please advise about taking on the X contract for 2023:
1.3.5.6 > 54

I'm not really sure how to interpret this, i always struggle with hex 1. And then 54 underlying, is that saying I don't have much choice, or??

Any ideas would be most gratefully received.

Thanks

54 is often a hexagram of being undervalued but not much choice about it.

1 creativity...maybe Yi is simply describing your situation, feeling undervalued for your creative contribution.

Line 5 suggests finding someone trustworthy or an advisor perhaps?
Line 6 cautions against arrogance or biting off more than you can chew.

Are the long hours worth it for the pay? Maybe there is someone you could talk to for career advice. Perhaps even someone in the theatre company.

Best of luck!

Hmm...thanks. That's helpful. Well I could speak to someone in the company, I do think I need to let them know relatively soon though. In general the hours are not too much, but in the last 3 weeks before the performances they are insane.

I should look at my calendar properly tomorrow morning and see how they line up with my better paying work in terms of work load and timing. In general I do indeed need to speak to someone about career advice as I am sort of going round in circles a little at the moment.

Thanks, will feedback if I get anything more
