Tarot and the Trigrams

Will attempt an initiative of relating Tarot to the Five Arts, one way or another. I think that may be needed and I have avoiding it, but the more time passes the more complex it becomes, so better to start at some point.
And of course, I'm aware others have done it before. Its all good - different people, different views.
The Tree and the Lou Shu and other parts of all this may look a little different presented here, this is what I find working in practice for people, so this is what I'm viewing/using.

The idea was to post it in other forums, but for a few reasons may not be convenient to be there... So either facebook or here, seemed interesting to try to do it here this time around and see where it leads... If the topic disapears I probably deleted it, as there are many reasons to have doubts its a good idea to start this here. Anyway, lets try. : )

As I believe we need to align the Tree of Life to Lou Shu,as in practice they seem to be so connected that without it we may miss vital aspect of both. I don't think people have done it exactly in the way done here(through the 3 Treasures more on all that below), although of course many have done it in other ways.
Some are using Sefer Yetzirah for it, as well, actually, that is old Kabbalistic text that provides arrangment of the characters.

In my humble understanding, this may not work very well, as not all cards will be... Correct for it. Also are upside down for the minor arcana, but I will give at attempt to explain it with meaning. We may use different decks for this, as there are different points of view we may need. In some cases, like the first card here doesn't seem need to explain much, the text is clear enough for this too.

To align them together we will use something called The Tree Treasures.Random article for them here:
Basically, we view the 3 Dan Diens as containing and presenting the gateway to that Treasures, from Jing in the Lower, Qi in the Middle and Shen in the higher.
Dan Diens are here(again random article about them, may check both and edit later if I find more valid ones):

That are the merging point between the Sons and the Daughters in the Trigrams, each merging in one of the Dan Diens.

Here is image of the Tree of Life:

Here is the Lou Shu that we will use for this, at this point:

However, at this step we will mostly be using Early Heaven arrangement. That is this:

The view is that is the same thing, viewed from different cultures, basically. But more on that with time.
For now, we view the Tarot cards from the Minor Arcana arranged starting from the Lowest Saphira(that are the circles on the tree) going up.

Lets start with the classic 2 of cups.
The tree is viewed as existing in 4 Planes. I still use that, then Minor Arcana are 10 sephirot each in their own 'plane'. That may need some refining with time.
Now, 2 of cups basically addresses the second sephira in the Water Plane.
Second plane is what is sometimes called Vijnana, Astral, Psychic Realms, emotional plane and much, much more. Its the Jing/Essence in the Chinese Metaphysics. And will be the balance between Zhen and Gen in early heaven.

As we can see the Second Sephira, the Purple One called Yesod is a merging point, between the 2 others, the one in the negative pillar and the one in the possitive.
As already said that is equivalent of merging Zhen(Thunder) and Gen(mountain) in the Early Heaven.
Why there isn't anything between them in the Early Heaven?
If we study more deeply the practical systems, we can see 5 Yellow Earth is between them, that is on another level so they actually merge in Hexagrams, but long to go into now.
What we are interesting so far is that we need the point between Zhen and Gen and that is the lower Dan Dien at this point(behind the navel more or less).

This is connected to 2 sephirot. One is Hod - we will view that as thinking on a very low level of it, everyday plans etc. aspect of it all. The other is Netzach - that is receiving the flow from everything around(mostly nature at this 'level'). Basically what happens when we aren't 'thinking'. Very material for both, thoughts in everyday life and 'flow' from nature, mostly. Then not suprisingly Hod is also technology and communicaiton and other stuff that is balancing itself vs nature and its flows. There is more to it, also some turn arounds, but not for now.
Geomancy systems work with Nezah, in my humble view, they 'receive' from it.

So what is between Hod and Nezach... Well, the idea here that they had is that this is a very low level of 'closeness'... Moments when 2 fields intertwine, but human relations are at the middle Dan Dien connected to Qi. So this is the human relations in the realm of meaning and just letting the flow take you to places. Its the merge of the 2, so more connected to sociatys perspective and simple life plans then to the actual connections in the higher Dan Dien.

Here we have the first card we are going to start with. That is from Zen Tarot deck this time around.
osho-zen-two-of-water.png

"First meditate, be blissful, then much love will happen of its own accord. Then being with others is beautiful and being alone is also beautiful. Then it is simple, too. You don't depend on others and you don't make others dependent on you. Then it is always a friendship, a friendliness. It never becomes a relationship, it is always a relatedness.
You relate, but you don't create a marriage. Marriage is out of fear, relatedness is out of love. You relate; as long as things are moving beautifully, you share. And if you see that the moment has come to depart because your paths separate at this crossroad, you say good-bye with great gratitude for all that the other has been to you, for all the joys and all the pleasures and all the beautiful moments that you have shared with the other. With no misery, with no pain, you simply separate.

Osho The White Lotus, Chapter 10

Commentary:
The branches of these two flowering trees are intertwined, and their fallen petals blend together on the ground in their beautiful colors. It is as if heaven and earth are bridged by love. But they stand individually, each rooted in the soil in their own connection with the earth. In this way they represent the essence of true friends, mature, easy with each other, natural. There is no urgency about their connection, no neediness, no desire to change the other into something else.

This card indicates a readiness to enter this quality of friendliness. In the passage, you may notice that you are no longer interested in all kinds of dramas and romances that other people are engaged in. It is not a loss. It is the birth of a higher, more loving quality born of the fullness of experience. It is the birth of a love that is truly unconditional, without expectations or demands."

So here we have the balancing of mind and nature in connection to human relations. There isn't a control aspect of it going outside, there is within for keeping it in borders and not reaching out when that will be out of place.

Text is a quote, of course, from the author.

And this is the merge of the search of meaning and alignment with encompassing fields on the lowest Dan Dien level. Between Zen and Gen of the lowest Dan Dien, working with different coloring of the essence/Jing.
On that level its just balancing the ideas of security/control etc. and even though it may relate to others it can't be human connection, as this is meaning vs nature, balance, real relation is not there yet, this is thoughts vs security and stuff, while connection in human Qi level... That happens in the higher Dan Dien, but that is a story for another day, possibly.

I get that this may be way too complex to follow for members. But with time its only going to become more complex it seems, as other systems seem to be looking in the same direction and representations. So seem fair to post it if someone finds meaning in it, feel free to ask, there is much more every step of the way that is missing here, because there is just no space or reason to post it now. But we can expand. Or not. : )

The plan is to post a card from time to time with connecting parts of this adding depth to each part mentioned so far, if it seems a wise thing to do.

Hi Tihia, this thread is fine here in Open Space if that is where you want it but it does come under the category of Exploring Divination since it is doing that, exploring divination. If you would like it moved there let us know. It might get more replies in that section.

Open Space is for things 'off topic' less connected to Yi or divination but Exploring Divination is for discussing all kinds of divination.
