Hello everyone,

I've always had teeth problems, ever since I can remember. Chronic infections and inflammations eventually took their tool. So, two years ago, I had undergone a full mouth restoration procedure which left me with pain and discomfort. The (reputable; expensive) dentist in question turned me over to his solicitors as soon as I raised an internal complaint last Jan (by ignoring my warnings of infection, he had cost me one of my precious remaining teeth).

I had been looking for someone to finish the job ever since, which is proving nigh impossible, because:
  • Most dentists I have come across don’t wish to take on someone else’s handiwork.
  • My budget is limited, and therefore need to look abroad (I live in the UK).
  • Most implantologists abroad are all about dental tourism and disinterested in taking on complicated cases.
  • The couple of dentists in my old country that are willing to finish the job, see no reason for the pain - there is none showing on the x-rays, apart from thin-ish jawbone. They're not interested in investigating the source and just want to stick in the permanent bridge work (BUT: I just had a pancake. One of the implants in the lower jaw did not love the challenge.).
I'm addressing any possibly psychosomatic causes with homeopathy, therapy, etc. I feel crazy, unsupported, bereft of guidance and Divine protection, punished, hopeless and confused. Plus, I can't chew very well at all, and I love love love food.

Having bothered Yi about this a lot in the past, I decided to give it a break. Until today, when I asked “How can I bring lasting positive solution to this teeth trouble?"

39.2.3.5>7 feels reassuring. It also implies some kind of a leadership, I think. With head full of titanium woe, I am not sure how to put the reading together.

Line 2
'A king, a servant: limping and limping.
In no way is he himself the cause.'

Alas, true.

Line 3
'Going on, limping; coming back, turnaround.'

Coming back? To where? Am I being to literal?

Line 5
'Greatly limping; partners come.'

Do things need to get way worse before I get any help?
Or perhaps I need to limp off further than I think? India? Guatemala? My life atm could potentially support 6 months away… But would mean deciding to give up this flat, and literally start again. Hexagram 7?

All thoughts, insights and interpretations hugely appreciated.

Grace

Hi graceheart
I feel your pain. Mouth infection is one of the most nauseatingly, insidiously painful episodes of torture that I have experienced. My infections have only occurred one tooth at a time for me and are luckily isolated. I can only imagine how difficult it has been for you having to deal with this kind of thing forever.

Now, it seems, your teeth problems have spread beyond your body and are seeping into legal proceedings, associated wider psychosomatic perspectives and rocked you to the core of your faith systems.

Having bothered Yi about this a lot in the past, I decided to give it a break. Until today, when I asked “How can I bring lasting positive solution to this teeth trouble?"

39.2.3.5>7
39 <> 7
'Limping' through 'Multitude'

Legge comments about 7, 'Shi describes the multitude (of the host)' by which he is referring to all the good guys and the bad guys that manifest in the heavenly host. Additionally, 7 indicates that the basis for all your woes, perhaps even the thing that started your teeth problems, is grief and sadness.

Teeth are the main pieces of equipment that provide the nourishment and nutrition we require for a sustainable life. They are pillars signposting and guardians for the stomach and in some traditions they are the strongrooms for storing key stoical qualities that help us to endure hardships, particularly associated with spiritual development. Perhaps then, as the health of your teeth have declined so to has your ability to endure and connect at all levels - "I feel crazy, unsupported, bereft of guidance and Divine protection, punished, hopeless and confused".

39 advocates that for best effect, i.e. to bring a"lasting positive solution", then full consideration is given to ways you can reverse your personality to renovate your power and virtue and to re establish the connections you have lost over the years. Equally, Yi understands the enormity of the task, which cannot be delayed, and advises that you seek all the support you can muster, but especially from the Great Person. ( perhaps a skilled practitioner versed in ways of dealing with the multitude)

39 is greatly and deeply guided by 64 'Not yet Crossing' which directs you towards greater endeavours which will be better able to manifest once the masculine will that bites deep into this problem has been exhausted.

39.2 - Speaks to how you walk in the world, which is in need of a bolstering and boosting at the core of your inner world. Ultimate success is not important only that for now you take greater steps towards taking full charge of this realm.

39.3 - Here at the threshold of inner and outer world inner beliefs, emotions, and balanced inner assessments are more readily transferred to the outer world. Continue with the spring clean your started in 39.2 for lasting results.

39.5 - This is the line that points towards the structure needed for long lasting positive solutions. Help is on the way, even though you feel forsaken, Find strength, courage, fortitude, perseverance and all the positive qualities you can lasso and then bind them tight around you. Gain support from every avenue you can think of. Try new approaches, and take responsibility for your actions. This will dissolve the obstacles you see around you. When you start to feel the waves of authenticity that begin to swathe through all aspects of your life, climb up even higher on your surf board and ride those waves with all your might. Through your teeth problems and on to Beyond.

... of course, there may be other interpretations that you gain clearer understanding from.

Good Luck

Thank you very much, my_key, for your thoughtful and inspired reply.

Grief and sadness, spot on. Personal, ancestorial, somebody’s, nobody’s – I’ve always been conscious of the presence of free-floating Weltschmerz, as well as the presence of grace. Like most people, I’ve been through a multitude (!) of disappointments, broken hearts, losses, traumas, let-downs, (self)betrayals, and one actual war. But I’ve also witnessed the indestructible nature of love, life and hope, and I’ve starred in the multitude of miracle scenarios where, after trying everything I could possibly think of and still failing to quit boozing or that guy or whatever, and feeling even more forlorn and bereft than I do now, I’d finally turn to the Invisible, and the Invisible would always provide me with a safe passage into the next, reliably better, stage of my life... eventually.

The only thing that’s different now is that, in order to get my gnashers fixed, I actually need other people’s help. So I seek experts, I carefully pick them, and they turn out to be... lacking. Sometimes I wish I’d get abducted by aliens, see if they’d fix my teeth in exchange for a few prods.

“Now, it seems, your teeth problems have spread beyond your body and are seeping into legal proceedings, associated wider psychosomatic perspectives and rocked you to the core of your faith systems.”

What I didn’t mention is that this is my 2nd attempt at the full mouth restoration. Yeah. The first dentist I was able to sue (had to, in order to get my money back; alas, no such thing as damages in the UK legal system). The second dentist, the one who couldn’t stand anyone questioning his prowess (Leo Sun), was Croatian so I could not sue. Wouldn’t dare, anyway, because I got this weird sense that he might kill me (I grew up in Croatia and I’m still tiny bit scarred).

“39 advocates that for best effect, i.e. to bring a "lasting positive solution", then full consideration is given to ways you can reverse your personality to renovate your power and virtue and to re establish the connections you have lost over the years.”

It feels that the connections were lost over lifetimes (not to nitpick or anything). Asked Yi how to reverse my personality and renovate my power, just. Answer: 45, unchanging. Ooooh. Maybe I ought to start gathering Angels.

“...perhaps a skilled practitioner versed in ways of dealing with the multitude.”

This sounds epic.

“39.2 - Speaks to how you walk in the world, which is in need of a bolstering and boosting at the core of your inner world. Ultimate success is not important only that for now you take greater steps towards taking full charge of this realm.”

How do I bolster and boost my inner world?
51.1.4>2
Line 4 could be indicating that I’m likely sitting in a bog of self-pity and learned hopelessness (hoarding the shock-waves).
Relating 2 may be hinting at the manifestation of greater endeavours once the masculine will has been exhausted. To me, this is akin to the Serenity Prayer conundrum. Time to Yin or Yang? Accept or change? Serenity or courage? Wisdom to know, por favor.

“39.3 - Here at the threshold of inner and outer world inner beliefs, emotions, and balanced inner assessments are more readily transferred to the outer world. Continue with the spring clean your started in 39.2 for lasting results.”

This gives me hope.

“39.5 - This is the line that points towards the structure needed for long lasting positive solutions. Help is on the way, even though you feel forsaken, Find strength, courage, fortitude, perseverance and all the positive qualities you can lasso and then bind them tight around you. I’m sticking this on the wall. Thanks again, my_key. Wishing you the best.

Yep. Bogged down now, however look out for the fertilising shake up that will rouse you from your slumbers. Be open to what comes tsunami or otherwise and ride that surfboard with all your might. Perhaps the Weltschmerz you hold on so tight to is about to be given an overhaul.

The Serenity Prayer, as I remember it, indicates that ' lasting positive solution' (peace?) comes through using acceptance, courage and wisdom, in that order. No conundrum at all really. All very clear.

As for 45, whether you have lost your connection over years or lifetimes is immaterial. Karcher names this hexagram 'Gathering Them / Great Works'. There appears to be no doubt about assembling your Angels under this banner. Perhaps, you might like to consider true relationship and engage with this situation going forward as your very own Magnum Opus.

The work is yours to do - or not. If you pick up the gauntlet, perhaps, consider using a high quality glue, in fact the very highest, so that none of this ever starts peeling off the wall again.

... of course, you may see other interpretations that resonate more strongly.

Good Luck

Hi Grace heart,

H39 is the obstacle and H7 is about structuring and giving guidance (to a multitude of individuals). H7 is also about having a clear strategy and implementing it in an organised way.
So your question
How can I bring lasting positive solution to this teeth trouble?
has as the simplest answer:
To solve the obstacle in this situation, you need to come up with and execute a clear and distinct strategy where you are in control.
The 3 moving lines in the answer together form the trigram Wind that changes to Thunder.
This is about no longer putting things off, but tackling them immediately. Not lingering in the past, but putting a stop to it and starting afresh.

The nuclear hexagram of H39 is H64. In this hexagram, all components are present but everything has yet to find its proper place. The message of H7 also applies here: structure and leadership.
This shows that there is a solution to the problem, but you have to take the lead in organising the solution yourself.

Interestingly, trigram Mountain in H39 is connected to teeth and the jaws. Water is about the freedom of movement. Both trigrams are out of balance due to moving lines. This can be explained as 'problems at the teeth restrict the freedom of movement of the jaws' or 'the restriction of movement of the jaws causes problems at the teeth'.

Thisn would be my interpretation. As always, take what resonates and leave the rest 😉 .

It had never occurred to me that the key words of the Serenity Prayer have been ordered on purpose. Makes total sense: it’s a manual! Evolutionary stuff!

Thanks again for your insight, Michael, expect I shall ponder it a lot.

All best.
