How do you like this book? I read it about 5 times (in Russian only though), and I find it very fascinating and thoughtful.

To Yi Jing it can be referred through that method of "random associations", which main heroes (Belbo particularly) applied with "Abulaphia" - Belbo's personal computer. They didn't seek data with this method - only some implicit links between facts and events, when they got stuck in suggestions.

And an idea of a game is good too. They didn't take their Plan too seriously - but on the other hand they played with reality and had to expect some "real output", so to say. I suppose that they didn't base on any tradition - while Diotallevi warned them about "wrong permutations of letters of Tora" and bad consequences. Nevertheless, Diotallevi himself put such wrong permutations into his body and finally died from cancer.

As it seems to me, the whole book is about playing with reality and its symbols. And little matter what these symbols are - Qabbalah, Yi Jing, runes etc.

What do you see there?
