Hello, I'm quite new to working with Yi. I would really appreciate your help with this interpretation.
I currently work 2 jobs and in addition to raising a 5-year-old, it has gotten to be too much. I am burned out and experiencing some mental health issues as a result of it all. I am deciding which job to quit. (My partner is going to take on extra work to help us financially).

Job A pays more but also takes up a lot more time and is more demanding in many ways. However, it is generally the "better" job in terms of future prospects.

I asked

What would it be like for me financially and personally if quit job A?

I got 50.2.5. to 33

My thoughts: I find this one the harder of the 2 to interpret. The Vessel being the situation after quitting makes me think that it would be the beginning of some sort of inner alchemical process. Part of why I want to change my work situation is that I have realized working all the time just to feel financially secure does not align with something deep inside me. It's not like we will be broke if I leave this job.. it would require more budgeting, planning, saving, being more frugal, but I've realized I would rather have more time for my family and the things that matter to me that a little bit more "wiggle room" financially. The hexagram feels like the beginning of that process of getting closer to living the way that feels "right" to me. But I'm not sure.. it's a bit of a mystery.

Job B pays a lot less but it is also very good money for the amount of hours it requires. If I were to quit job A and keep job B, I would have so much more free time, to take care of the house, my child, and maybe eventually pick up some other side job. However, it doesn't really "lead anywhere".. no future prospects.

I asked

What would it be like for me financially and personally if quit job B?

I got 40.2 to 16

I find it funny that Hilary wrote something about this being a kind of "quit dithering" message from Yi. It is true that I have been turning this decision in my mind for a long time. It is also true that this path doesn't "lead anywhere" and Yi seems to be saying not to go down a path that leads nowhere. The changing hexagram 16 makes me think quitting this job would restore my energy...

But I'm doubting my interpretations as I'm so new to this.

Thank you for your thoughts

Quitting Job A brings you into a time of Establishing the New (50) in which Yi advocates one to 'rectify their position' and a time that enwraps you in a dignified Retreat (33). Lines 2 and 5 changing together create a link of inner unrest to becoming firm and upright towards what you trul your world around.

Job B pays a lot less but it is also very good money for the amount of hours it requires. If I were to quit job A and keep job B, I would have so much more free time, to take care of the house, my child, and maybe eventually pick up some other side job. Quitting Job B would place you in the arms of Delight (16). This situation will provide Relief (40) for you and Yi advocates in this time for one to actively 'pardon mistakes and deal gently with misdeeds'. 40.2 speaks to your inner world now being more aligned with the right path.

You have asked 2 questions, looking at your personal future and financial future, in each scenario. By conflating these you may be creating a whirlpool. This in turn could be leading to some of the confusion that you are having in interpreting.

... of course, my interpretation may not mean anything like what you see in the readings.

Good Luck

Thanks so much for your reply @my_key, that makes a lot of sense. Yes, I conflated personal and financial future, but the answers make a lot of sense the way you have laid them out...
