I was thinking about 51.5 and 17.5 and a thought occurred.

Has anyone else considered 51.5 as "$hit happens"
(and roll with it, get to work)
and as an addendum to the above phrase: 17.5 as "AND excellent things can happen too" ?
(And roll with it, get to work)

Yes. Despite what **** comes and goes on. **** happens. One way to get about 25% happier is to recognise this IMO and keep moving. I don't know how you got '****' past the censor I wonder if my **** will. I think with 17.5 there is far more sense of where one is going, one is holding to a dearest aspiration that no thunder can shake. It's worth going on in both cases. I have found 51.5 to be a great morale booster when there's hiccups going on. Hiccups is like thunder.

ah I get it you used a dollar sign for the 's' $hit yay.......

$hit $hit $hit......clever Moss Elk. I never did think $hit should be on the profanity filter since it is not a profanity but a fact of life...in all it's forms

Hi, Moss:

I never did, but now that you say, I'm thinking that it's possible...

I use to reserve Sh_t!!! for the word lin4 = stingy / miser often translated as «humilliation», which is not in 51.5.

Maybe this line means that nobody can resist THUNDER, which is NOISY, SCARY, annd WITH NO MERCI.

If we see the things so, we can say SH_T!!! indeed.

But there is also a good new that is : nothing will get lost if we work on ourselves.

An almost literal translation of the chinese received text:

51.5

震往來厲
zhen4 wang3 lai2 li4
thunder to go to come danger
THUNDER GOES (AND) COMES DANGEROUS (1)
Thunder-style intercourses are severe, stern and cruel.
Say, aggressive, predestined to end badly. (2)

意旡喪有事。
yi4 wu2 sang4 you3 shi4.
to wish not mourning there is work
WISHING NO MOURNING THERE WILL BE WORK (3)
If we want no loss, we must work on ourselves for remaining unhurt.

If we are not fond of working, sh_t!!! the good new may be not so good.

Don't you believe that?

Yours,

Charly

_____________________
(1) li4 also means STERN AND CRUEL (Tuck Chang).
(2) W / B say: «... repeated shocks with no breathing space between... » that's how thunder behaves, sh_t!!!
(3) The first part can also be translated DESIRE DOESN'T DIE or DESIRE GETS NOT LOST, but that's another story.
Ch.

Hi Everyone,

I received 17,5 the other day in a reading in which I was ranting away about the direction the I Ching had been taking me on a long standing issue. The Wilhelm translation- Sincere in the good, good fortune - was, I think, urging me to stop ranting and to work on renewing my faith in a direction that the I Ching had been giving me for some time. My unsettling thoughts about leaving this direction were, I believe, represented by Hex.51 in which 5th yin was assuring me that although my doubts were dangerous, nothing at all was lost provided I maintained a central, balanced position.

My "$hit happens" is 25.3.

I'd call 51.5 'stay cool but don't freeze.'

17.5 is like my crystal cave.

Btw, don't post s h i t e either. It will be deleted, just as this likely will be. Why $hit is permissible but
s h i t e isn't is peculiar, no? Why other versions of alluding to such a benign word is permitted but s h i t e isn't seems kind of anal. S h i t e! I guess it's all a matter of who says it.

Hi, Bruce:

Maybe we must use another word to say THAT.

From Boers´Caravan by Hugo Pratt:

Cato1.jpg

The dialog:

-Lieutenant, here are many tracks!
-What tracks?
-Much sh_it.
-Guide ... Why do you use a word so vulgar?
[NO SPEECH]
-Answer.
-What a word must I use to say sh_t?

Not a good translation, but worse is nothing.

Yours,

Charly

Hi Charly!

A rose by any other name... um, well, maybe that's not such a great example either. :D

Oh, I love this thread!

I got this hex tonight for a fear of success situation. I'm a writer and I wrote something a few days and sent it off to an editor of an online news site here in Australia. I was a litle nervous about it because it was a bit of an experimental voice, and I felt like I was really riffing with it, and so therefore I was wondering how it would be received.

The editor emailed me back and said it was brilliant, that he loves my writing style, and gave me his direct email to contact him next time.

Which was very morale-boosting. But the whole exciting experience also caused a flare-up of my MECFS, which meant that had a bad day today in bed. So I asked the Yi, "Advice about writing another essay after the editor's compliments?"

I love the practicality of this hex. Don't fight the anxiety and agitation (51), roll with the flow and catch the next wave when my health permits and an idea with a bit of fire and passion flows in. And I like Hilary's rendering of line 5:

"Shock goes and comes, danger.
Intention is not lost – there are things to do.'"

Nice. It's reminding me to trust in the process and in the right time, but also encouragement to not lose my $hit, to keep going.
