I find myself in a difficult situation where the choice is basically:
1) take the initiative/influence change
2) do nothing/be patient/accept and let go

So I asked for advice on what I should do, including what action should I take(if any)?
50.4.5.6 > 48

All 3 outer lines moving make me think there's nothing effective I can do, at least for now..? I'm not sure though.

The Cauldron, one one hand, it seems to suggest that things are changing of their own accord. On the other, it could be advising that my input is needed in some way, or at least, that my action might be good if I approach it with the right consciousness..

The Well is usually a positive hex for me. On its own, I interpret it as telling me something like not to worry. But as the relating hex here, I don't know what the message/advice is.

Any thoughts on this really appreciated.

I think this counsels a combination of a and b.

in 50.4 in particular you need to revise quite severely your position and ensure you are not overstepping the mark so to speak. This line talks about the importance of inner transformation over the outer manifestation - if that makes any sense and results in 18 - working on what has been spoiled.
so, if you take heed of the advice in 50.4, then gradually you will get to 50.5. and 50.6 which are I assume those things that you are hoping to achieve or can be achieved by others under your guidance. 50.5 is something that is good enough and 50.6 is something that is quite excellent and it looks like you can achieve first one then the other, as long as you have correct your position as in 50.4. Only you can know what that may refer to. 48 I always see as a sum total of what one is, all of one's resources (although it's the well - where other people come for water so I can only assume that here we are talking about some sort of group endeavour which you'd like to move forward)

So, I think the advice is to deal with yourself first and from that you will know the right action to take 'out there'. Good luck.

Thanks for your interpretation, precision grace. I think you are right about the combination. I have to change my mind about the situation in some way, before dealing with it.

LiSe's comment on 50.4 is also interesting:
The vessel breaks a foot. The stew of the Gong is overturned, his appearance soiled. Pitfall
When a Ding topples, the owner will be the one who gets soiled. No matter if it was himself or someone else who caused it. So be very careful in deciding by whom or how it will be handled. (Changes to hex.18)

So this seems to be the key line as it describes that some accident(or carelessness) has happened and advises caution. It also seems to be advising to look less at the cause(past) and more at the present/future.

It doesn't seem to be a bad reading, apart from this one line. The cauldron is a bit scary though, because it describes something cooking, and it makes me think of something turbulently transforming. And right now I don't know whether that refers to the situation, or the other person, or me. I'll just have to think about it all some more...
