Two relationship questions (15>53, then 40>64)

These are about a friend who might become something more.

The first, asked about two weeks ago, when I realized I liked him (I'm not sure if these details matter, pardon me D - What do I need to understand about this situation with him?
15.5.6 --> 53.5.6

The second, asked about a week ago - What is the lesson that he represents?
40.6 --> 64.6

I'm sorry but I think I'm a little confused -- How are you receiving changing lines in a hexagram that has already been transformed?? Maybe I'm just not clear of your shorthand

Ach, sorry. I got lines five and six in the first hexagram, and line six in the second one I threw. I usually do look at the lines in the transformed hexagram, though. That's not the right way to do it? D:

Oh i see! well I'm definitely no 'Sage' when it comes to the I Ching, but I don't see any harm in reading every line in a transformed hexagram, It helps maybe to understand the entire meaning, But i am under the impression that the only changing lines that you can really interpret to do with an answer are the ones from the first hexagram.

Your question 'what do i need to understand the situation with him?

I like the emotional i chings explanantion of this hex.

In hexagram 15 we are at a moment where the use of 'acceptable' appearance is required despite our inner desires. This is a time for avoiding excess by keeping things 'grounded'; words to facts. This functions within the context of worth and beauty. (words + facts = value. words or facts alone are 'valueless'; they only serve as 'meaningless' ideals). By maintaining this relationship (a 'level' head) it acts as a gateway into the future

so I think the i ching picked up on your excitement to do with your love interest! Its saying the way forward is to keep a level head on your shoulders, and dont give away too much, keep your outward behaviour simple and straightforward and hide your true desires for the time being.

Six in the fifth place means:
No boasting of wealthy before one’s neighbor.
It is favorable to attack with force.
Nothing that would not further.

Modesty is not to be confused with weak good nature that lets things take their own course. When a man holds a responsible position, he must at times resort to energetic measures. In doing so h must not try to make an impression by boasting of his superiority but must make certain of the people around him. The measures taken should be purely objective and in no way personally offensive. Thus modesty manifests itself even in severity.

Six at the top means:
Modesty that comes expression.
It is favorable to set armies marching
To chastise one’s own city and one’s country.

A person who is really sincere in his modesty must make it show in reality. He must proceed with great energy in this. when enmity arises nothing is easier than to lay the blame on another. A weak man takes offense perhaps, and draws back, feeling self-pity; he thinks that it is modesty that keeps him from defending himself. Genuine modesty sets one to creating order that inspires one to begin by disciplining one’s own ego and one’s immediate circle. Only through having the courage to marshal one’s armies against oneself, will something forceful really be achieved.

Line 5 is saying its time to act, but dont exaggerate yourself, this is the ego at work and will only lead to problems later on.

Line 6 is saying look inside yourself, if you are sincere in your interest let it show! but if your not completely sincere or are unable to express what you really feel, difficulties might arise. make sure you take responsability for your own actions and dont lay blame on others without first looking truthfully at yourself.

and line 53 is Gradual progress,

so overall, this is a good outlook, its time to move! But dont expect this relationship to blossom over night.53 is a slooooow hex! dont get excited, maintain your regular outward apperance, and dont exaggerate your qualities, and if differnces arise, make sure you understand that you played a part in those differences too.
