Hello everyone,

Tomorrow my parents and I should meet with a public authority we've requested support to for a bureaucratic matter. In order to extend it, they need to review all the documentation around the case, and I'm concerned it may not be sufficient. It's a catch 22 situation because it's not easy to get an appointment with them. If we don't show up, it'll be rescheduled to who knows when; if we do but screw it up, we're likely not going to get another opportunity any time soon.

What do I need to know about Thursday's meeting 21.1,2,3,6 > 32
Not showing up: 28.2,4 > 39

The meeting's outlook is not promising. It looks as though not showing up may be a better option. Any thoughts?

Because you've asked for an extension, resulting 32 probably means they'll extend it. The cast sounds to me like "the problem persists/continues to exist, so things will continue as they are".

Not showing up: 28.2.4 > 39
They'll make a new appointment (28.2), quite delayed (28.4), which will not happen in the end (39).

Thanks D! :)

I'm afraid my wording may have been misleading - let me clarify. I've not asked for an extension. We've applied for support from this agency and they have fixed the appointment. To provide the requested support they need to check our papers, which I'm afraid are not complete. So the options are either making the appointment with potentially insufficient documentation (21 > 32) or not showing up and counting on a new date, by which we could hopefully supplement our papers (28 > 39). Which one should we pick?

I would go for it even if with insufficient documentation, because the new date sounds more problematic.
Although... your first question wasn't 'result if I go on with the meeting', it was 'what do I need to know'. Maybe ask an extra question? (result of meeting despite insufficient documentation).

We ended up not going. On the same day, prior to the appointment with the public agency, we met with some professionals who reviewed our documentation for other purposes and deemed it insufficient, which reinforced my doubts. Anyway, even if we had wanted to show up, we returned too late from this earlier meeting.

Contacting the authority to reschedule is not simple. Their office is open only once a week for limited hours, and they don't answer calls so one has to go there. I have not done that yet as I need to increase the documentation first, which may take some time.
