Hi folks, i ching lovers and nuts :)

if you had casted for a this or that option which would you choose between 21.1>35 and 27.5>42?
I have to decide at around 5 pm whether to go here or there.

I've looked at the lines and they both seem pretty harmless to me nor particularly wonderful.
Maybe it's saying that either is good?

I both like 42 and 35 :)
and both 21 and 27 have to do with food and mouth..

21.1 suggests stopping before things get too far, 27.5 suggests putting any resources you have access to, to good use .. without a question/issue at hand it's hard to tell though

a different take on 21.1 would be that you'll be forced to takie really small, baby steps, if any

27.5 says "a good omen for remaining at home" - not good since the question was about going somewhere.
So I'll vote for option 21.1 as the best out of the two (in a question of if you should go somewhere).

I go to this cinema professionals event 27.5
(it means I have access to a place usually closed to the public, just for professional workers in the movie business, and I'm friend with the person who will be interviewed, it means fun and hanging round in a place I would want to work with)

or I don't go to the event, and instead go home a couple of days to say bye to my Mom (whom am gonna see again in a couple of weeks by the way): 21.1

I like the resources put to good use..

Well actually the event is here where I am right now.. so I could read it as going to the event is staying home in a sort of way.
I would need to travel to actually go home to my Mom :)

Do you agree?
Thanks for helping out! :bows:

My guess (in hindsight, since your decision was about last night) is that you should go to the event (or - possibly - don't do either thing).

As you said, this reading is sort of a double negative, with a tricky definition of "home." (I.e. going to your real home requires travelling, but where you're living now is sort of, but not really, home.)

21.1 says, "Shoes locked in the stocks, feet disappear. Not a mistake." (Hilary's translation)

I think that means don't move. (Your feet have "disappeared," they can't carry you anywhere; you can't use them - and that is not a mistake.)

Tie that back to the question it was answering: "Go home to see my mom instead of going to the event?" Yi's response: "Lock your feet away - do not use them." In other words - do not travel to your mom, which implies the other option - do go to the event. That's my guess, anyway.

27.5 for attending the event: "Rejecting the standard, Dwelling here with constancy: good fortune. Cannot cross the great river.’

"Dwelling here with constancy" could mean it would be good for you to attend; you're demonstrating "constancy" to your profession, something like that. "Rejecting the standard" almost sounds as if this is being compared to what you might normally do? Would you typically attend events like this? "Cannot cross the great river" might mean not to have a lot of expectations for the event - it might be good for you to be there, but don't expect to achieve anything through attending, at least not directly. (It might be a good chance to meet people, or reacquaint yourself with people, but you won't be offered work right then and there. Maybe not that exact scenario, but something like that - there won't be any major rivers crossed or hurdles gotten past by attending.)

So...what did you actually do, and how did it turn out? :D

It turned out pretty much as you said..
27.5 showed to be positive so I'm glad I went to the event :)

I don't. I've never been much of an event-attending type! Too shy and feeling out of place

I wanted to support this new acquaintance of mine who did a film project and I'm glad I went as I had the chance to get into this 5***** hotel where all the movie stars go. Of course no one was looking at us but we all felt very happy to be there and we were offered champaign and so on.
Then we went to have dinner at a very cheap place and there were 7 of us and I was nice and chatty with everyone and I really made an effort to bond with people and in the end two of them (a boy and a girl) were really interested in me, we created a good stream of energy. But there was another girl whom I could sense from the beginning that did not like me.. I pretended not to see her and concentrated on all the others.
In the end she looks at me and says she wants to come visit me in my own city

But anyway it was a very nice evening, I made the right choice.
Interesting thing is: while on the train to go to the event, me and my Mom texting, lots of heavy stuff coming up, I arrived at the event with sunglasses to cover my tears.
So I guess I managed to do both, the event and Mom's unsolved issues!

Good! :)

Do you have an idea of what "cannot cross the great river" might have referred to? For learning purposes? :flirt:

27.5
‘Putting away the canons,
Staying put with constancy: good fortune.
Does not allow crossing the great river.’

I think I put away the canons in going to this event and behave differently with people.
The great river.. maybe it means that nothing special will come out of it? But I currently have two more friends (well acquaintances so far) so I think I crossed a great river in my opinion!
In wiki wing I found a comment that says that
You may feel as if you have to cross rivers to find nourishment, but perhaps it will come to you.
Nourishment has come to me without having to go and look for it.
