What Can I Expect if I Treat Mom's UTI Using Ayurveda? Hexagram 2.5 to 8

Hello,

I sought help of the I Ching in knowing whether to treat my 94-year old mother's confirmed urinary tract infection using herbs prescribed by a reputable practitioner of Ayurveda and Ancient Chinese Medicine and received 2.5 to 8. I am becoming more and more willing to use Eastern medicinal practices to treat certain maladies like a UTI with the guidance of a practitioner and sometimes in conjunction with Western approaches. I am concerned that the antibiotics the Western doctor prescribes are causing a recurrence of urinary infections (this is a tenet of Ayurveda that repeated use of antibiotics can destroy the body's delicate microbiome). Any help you can provide in deciphering the answer would be most helpful! Many thanks.

I'll have a look at this later and super interested as I'm studying Ayurvedic nutrition but in a couple of hours I'm sitting my final assessment to become a kids yoga teacher with Ayurvedic yoga.

I'm wondering though if you've used Cranberry tablets, juice and Ural?

The line itself looks auspicious, that the remedy will help. It's interesting that the color yellow is in it, makes me curious if the medicine is yellow? That said, I was thinking about the change to Hex 8 and referred to line five there... maybe there's also some advice about simply presenting it as an option, without any pressure to immediately try it. Not sure where your mom is at in her perspective, and she may be totally on board, but I wondered perhaps if it's also about the harmony of allowing the choice to be made without coercion. (On a personal level, I have had great experiences using Chinese herbs for UTI, just has to be the right formula at the right moment.)

I think line 2.5 is a very interesting line but I don't have a lot of actual real life experience with it. However, just from mentally trying to figure it out it seems to me the line should indicate something that draws out the perfect response exactly. Like hexagram 1. Intention creates hexagram 2. Receptivity.

So I think this is a very positive answer. "Open to suggestion"!

Thank you all for the great feedback. After my initial question my mother was hospitalized for what appeared to be a TIA (a Transient Ischemic Attack) or mini-stroke. She had a stroke in 2019 and has a history of TIA's so it was concerning. The doctors think the incidents (she had two last week and I took her to the emergency both times) may have been due to low blood pressure. In the course of the Emergency Dept visits they did a battery of blood tests and since I had not given her the antibiotic it was evident that the herbs were working positively on the UT infection. Those of you who who interpreted the reading positively for using the herbs seem to be correct! I am very new at the I Ching and am fascinated by it's wisdom and ability to offer guidance in life. Sadly, I felt pressure and perhaps some fear in dealing with the medical community during the two emergency room visits and with sisters who do not understand Eastern practices and so I went ahead and began the antibiotic therapy and ceased the herbs. I purchased a good probiotic and prebiotic to support gut health during the antibiotic therapy.

As for the color yellow. When urine samples are taken, among the words used in the lab results to describe the look of the urine seem to be clear, yellow, cloudy or turbid. Could yellow indicate that it's a step toward more healthy urinary tract? Also, the color of the herbal tincture is a dark brown but when it's diluted a bit with water it turns amber. Not exactly yellow though.

Thanks to all for helping me to navigate this!
