A guy I had a mutual attraction with for several months and I went out a few times. We still get along and I think the attraction is still there, but it was clearly superficial and just nothing in common. Another girl I think he's seeing another girl I know he liked and who seems like a better fit for him. I do feel sad and think about him a lot even though our connection isn't deep.

Last night I dreamt of this new girl telling me how much she loves him and is happy with him and the reasons they are compatible.

23.3.6

Do you think this is just a very direct way of being told that I need to move on, because he has? I need to move on anyway, but I dream about him regularly and he just crosses my mind often in general. Strip him away? Is it that simple of a message?

Hexagram 23 is symbolic of a bed with the top line being the mattress and the other lines supporting it like the legs of a bed. So it makes sense for your reading because you are asking about a dream that came while you were sleeping. Hexagram 23 speaks about the kind of insights that come from dream logic, in other words, from the unconscious. In Jungian dream analysis the dreamer is encouraged to see everyone in the dream as herself. So if you understand that the new girl in the dream is actually representative of yourself and is expressing a part of you who really loves this man and thinks she would be happy with him. This part of you is not operating in your waking life, but expresses in the dream state your deeper feelings.

On the other hand, I personally think that dreams can be literal and bring us real world information that we are not aware of, so in that case, the woman in the dream would be telling you that the man is in fact happy with the new girl and you are out of the picture.

Thank you, danadanadana. It's funny you mention Jung-- that is why I wrote this post. When looking at my own dreams, I consider that I may be every person in the dream and may be speaking to myself. In this case, I woke up with the feeling that she was speaking to me even though the reasons she was listing for their compatibility are the reasons I have in my own head. I've been of two minds on this and you echoed back to me (more eloquently) what I was feeling... it could be me but it feels more likely that she is telling me they are happy together, which might be exactly what I need and sort of want to hear to just let it go.

I am very happy that you found my interpretation of your reading helpful!

One other thing to consider, the changing hexagram is 15 Modesty or Temperance which speaks of a humble person with a balanced, fair attitude and life style. If that person is you, then your balanced view of the situation is serving you well.

But, it occurred to me that too much of a humble attitude may prevent you from being open to becoming the girl in the dream who is both attractive to, and happy with this man.

Hi danadanadana-- just want to let you know again how spot on you are for me with this reading. It is uncanny.

I would describe my approach or way of being with him (and in dating/life in general) as humble and with an attempt at balance and an overall measured and realistic point of view. In several of my conversations with him, I sensed that he was put off by this. He also seemed eager to be dating someone (a rebound situation), and I was careful to take things a bit slowly and not show much emotional attachment. I have felt that my approach is a good thing, but I do sometimes think that it may be blocking me in some way from starting a relationship. Something to think about. Thanks again!
