I’m interested in othered take on this ….. my partner has just announced she wants us to separate.. she’s been away had an affair and decided she doesn’t have any love for me ….. it’s not entirely unexpected..

My question , what now ? Was posed in quite a broad sense

Hex 63 suggests it’s all decided and finished

Line 1 seems to say slow down. Don’t rush forward. There are clearly ways I feel a bit unprepared for the change to come and it daunting

Line 3 subduing the demon country. Be prepared food difficult emotions/ demons to tear their heads. Try to stay true to your own path

Hex 8 seeking union Is puzzling me. In the context of a break up …. Unless it counsels seeking good support and like minded people.

Any further insight would be appreciated…
Many thanks

The broad questions are often best, I think. Situations we find ourselves in have all sorts of variations and details on the surface, but deeper down they have a common PATTERN. So, the question you asked shows a mind that will probably get the most from the Yi's response.

Hex 63 suggests it’s all decided and finished

Kind of like that, yeah. Things are where they need to be. (Which probably sounds weird from your point of view right now.)

Line 1 seems to say slow down. Don’t rush forward. There are clearly ways I feel a bit unprepared for the change to come and it daunting

Yeah, daunting. But you've seen the message: don't be rushing in to do anything.

Line 3 subduing the demon country. Be prepared food difficult emotions/ demons to tear their heads. Try to stay true to your own path

I don't know you, her, or the situation other than how you've sketched it out, but this suggests dealing with your own feelings and mental state for an inescapable time period. Breakups are painful and you struggle with feelings. Yeah, everybody gets that. What many people don't get is that struggle and pain are not just to be endured - they're to get you better acquainted with yourself. Pain is not just stupid pain - you're supposed to come to realize things about yourself you didn't know before, or develop approaches you didn't possess before.

Hex 8 seeking union Is puzzling me. In the context of a break up …. Unless it counsels seeking good support and like minded people.

Again, this suggests the mental health piece to me, inwardly at least. The union is the mind holding together. You gotta be like that nine in the fifth place. Outwardly, it suggests a coming together of people who belong together. Kinda like: things are coming apart for you over in this field, but in this other field things are coming together.

In a case like this, I think that in addition to pointing you toward an understanding of the pattern of the situation and the dynamics involved, what the Yi has to say about being the person you need to be through this (in the Image of each hexagram, for instance) is incredibly helpful. In a difficult situation that you can't change outwardly, you *can* have an effect on yourself inwardly. It makes all the difference.

Good luck with it.

Thanks Dobro …that’s pretty much the way I’ve been seeing it too … seeking union within myself and holding that seems the thing..,
Some of my concern stems the sense that 63 paired with 64 , perhaps things are not as complete as they appear.
It’s not a situation I want to get pulled back into really .,,

Hello,

if I'm going to read it intuitively without interpreting the lines, it shows the end (63) of a union (8).
