I am not a confident driver. I stopped driving for the most part about 20 years ago. I would like to drive but the risk of an accident makes me uneasy. What precautions can I take to avoid causing driving accidents?

25. 5 No useful precautions.
25.6 Actions bring blunders.

51. Accidents.

Auugh!
I think I'll stick with walking.

Hi Rosada
Well it seems I provided the question so it'll be rude of me not to provide my version of an answer.

What precautions can I take to avoid causing driving accidents? 25: 5.6 <>51

25 meaning 'disaster has come from outside'
51 meaning ' rousing it'
nuclear 53 Gradual Progress

The precautions that you can take are to avoid accidents are to not allow yourself to become flustered or over-fearful and to arouse new ways of thinking that will bring a new fertile, positive approach for you (51). Disentangling yourself from these afflictions of fear around worse case scenarios will help. These are based in the conditioning and beliefs that you have adopted / learnt from others over the years and do not have to be your fears (25). The challenge for you though will lie staying with this new world view. This isn't an all change tomorrow situation. A furtehr challenge is the time that you perceive these necessary changes will take and whether you believe you have the strength of character and will to 'transform what is mean-spirited and grasping' (Karcher) parts in you that are currently ruling the roost (53).

25.5 - Says that sitting firmly in your anxiety you are currently in a bit of a tailspin about all this. There isn't any medicine you can take. However, if you let things be there will soon be cause for rejoicing in Rosada-land.

25.6 - Things are not lined up properly right now for you to introduce this change into your life so sit back, enjoy life and go with the flow. Just wait for the next bus heading for Hex 26 and get on that when it comes along. Tha's if you want to, of course.

The precautions needed for you are being called forth from the depths of Gradual Progress. So when you are ready rouse the positive in you and disentangle yourself from your worst fears. Many accidents are caused on the road by the drivers who have no fear of driving. Next step, if it was me, is when I'm ready I'd book a few sessions with a driving instructor and see how they went. At least you'd only be half in control of the car......that's gradual isn't it?

...or it may be nothing at all like this for you.

Good Luck

What precautions can I take to avoid causing driving accidents?

25.5.6 > 51

25.5 You can’t actually prevent accidents, you can only do the correct, healthy, natural things that would lead to not getting in an accident

25.6 Pay attention on the road (don’t be too “innocent” meaning unaware). Don’t be overly jumpy (sometimes accidents can be caused by overcorrecting or being over cautious too). Make sure you have enough knowledge and practice to feel confident (don’t drive if you don’t feel like you don’t enough to do so safely). Don’t drive when overly emotional. Don’t drive when there’s very poor visibility. Etc. When you can’t “see” right.

51 This is what you’re scared of, rightfully. Being scared of accidents doesn’t have to make you a bad driver! It’s a good sign. It means you’re in reality and not just dissociating.

I think this is actually giving you advice! Versus telling you not to drive. It’s sort of acknowledging your fear and nodding “yeah you can’t control it all, but what can you control” type of thing.

Oh wow - I couldn't cope without having the freedom of my car although I love the beauty of walking places too!
Line 5 - its not like you can take a tablet before you get into your car and start driving!! Once you get comfortable with it again, you'll be okay.
Line 6 - Just be 100% aware all the time. Defensive driving is the best way to drive.

Thank you so much for these thoughtful replies. I got such a boost in confidence - I literally felt a wave of good vibration!

Knoxx suggested a second question:

What do I need to know about my driving?
I got 2.5.6. - 20.

I see it as saying I can confidently drive around the neighborhood - no need to worry about freeways and big cities. Hmm... I'm determined to give it a go!

2.5.6 > 20

You’re a good driver; stay humble on the road, don’t try to pass people out of impatience and when people tailgate you for going slowly just dip off to the side and let them pass etc. Line 6 sounds to me like it’s about road rage or other drivers being aggressive, so maybe just being conscious to avoid. Your idea of staying off highways is smart! Fits the image of line 6 really well and I actually did that for years once I starting driving again after a long break (after an accident, out of fear). Just navigated everywhere using “avoid highways” in my navigator and it worked great! I built confidence.

Ooh I just thought of “yellow” and the dragons… yeah maybe you have a tendency to drive slowly? I do. Sometimes people get annoyed by that but I just give everyone space and stay far away from anyone driving weirdly. An accident takes a lot longer than just taking your time! So just never be in a rush. (On highways going too slow can be a bit dangerous so in that case, yes, avoid highways.) It’s either that you drive slowly or, if opposite, maybe consider slowing down. Yellow seems a good, moderate color for driving.

OMG - You are spot on! I tend to drive slowly and am too timid about changing lanes.
Got it! Thank you!
