I have just consulted the Oracle about what my partner, Susana, should do about treating her back/hip, which are excruciatingly painful. Should she have the nerve blocked where she had it done successfully before but which involves a 500km journey from where we now live or should she have it done locally? Our town has a population of 600K as compared to 15mln in and around the capital so obviously we have fewer doctors and probably a shallower pool of experience. I threw 48, The Well with the 3rd and top lines changing. I am on the verge of interpreting it but have not quite got there.

The text of H48.3 shows that there is a resource that is not used because there is no clarity. The Judgment text of H29 says "If you are truthful and sincere, and follow your heart, then you will have success, and your actions will bring esteem"
The lower trigram Wind with a moving line at the 3rd position is about delaying a decision because the situation is approached too intellectually. Wind turns into Water: go with the flow and follow your heart instead of your mind.

What I think she should pay attention to in making a decision is her gut rather than her mind.

As always, take what resonates and leave the rest ;)

The 48th hexagram, "The Well," symbolizes a source of nourishment and vitality. The changing lines indicate a shift in the situation. The third line suggests that seeking treatment locally may offer some benefits. However, it's important to take into consideration the top line, which changes simultaneously and implies challenges or potential difficulties.

In the context of your situation, the interpretation of the reading could be as follows: The Well signifies that there are viable options available for treating Susana's back/hip pain. The presence of changing lines emphasizes the need for careful consideration before making a decision. While seeking treatment locally may be more convenient due to the proximity, it's important to acknowledge the potential limitations of a smaller pool of medical expertise.

Considering the success Susana had with the nerve block when done before, it may be worth considering the 500km journey to have it done again. This option brings the advantage of proven positive results, and it may offer a better chance at finding the desired relief for Susana's pain.

Ultimately, the decision should be based on a comprehensive evaluation of the available local options, the potential risks and benefits, and the importance of securing effective treatment. It may also be beneficial to consult with medical professionals or seek a second opinion to gain additional insights and guidance regarding the best course of action in Susana's specific case.

I hope this helps

However, it's important to take into consideration the top line, which changes simultaneously...
Can you perhaps explain this to me?
Yes there is resonance in this case between the lines at the 3rd and 6th positions, but resonance does not mean that a stable line moves simultaneously as the corresponding line moves.
If the line at the 6th position had been important in this case it would have been a moving line, don't you think.
...which changes simultaneously and implies challenges or potential difficulties
The text of 48.6 says however:"They draw from the well. Do not cover it. There is confidence. Supreme good fortune." This does not seem to me to refer to challenges and difficulties ;)

Very many thanks for that. She decided to have it done locally and is due to have the procedure tomorrow. Having taken that decision she is now in less pain and is wondering whether to go ahead with it!

Thank you very much for taking the time to come back with that. She is going to have the procedure done locally, tomorrow, but having made that decision she is in far less pain than before and is now wondering whether to go ahead!
