Does anyone here know what would happen if a
truly inferior person were to consult for truly inferior purposes?

Would King Zhou of Shang later in life have gotten answers?

King Zhou of Shang could not use Yi because it did not existed back then, however in the 'Tied Sayings' ('Xi Ci', 繫辭) it is said,
「苟非其人,道不虛行。」
"But if one is not such a (right) person, the Dao will not operate in vain."

I tend to think Yi would offer a perfect answer, which would not be understood. 21.6 comes to mind. It's sometimes difficult enough even for one with benevolent and honest intentions. Sometimes 21.6 isn't a matter of won't but can't, particularly for the head filled with thunder.

I asked the I Ching, "What would happen if a truly inferior person were to consult for truly inferior purposes?"

I received 49. Revolution.

Hmm...maybe they would be so blown away by the response they would be transformed?
Or am I being told to Revolutionize my thinking? There are no inferior persons consulting the IC!
Just by desiring to consult the IC a seeker demonstrates they are not an inferior person but are actually a very superior person! (and also good looking and smart?)

I don't think You can find "truly inferior" advices in the I Ching. The person who got such purposes would either be disappointed or being led on the "right path"....

Inferior Questions

I suspect that the I Ching's response to an 'inferior' question from an inferior person would be much the same as an inferior question from anyone. I myself have certainly had responses from the I Ching that were evasive, vague or incomprehensible. The more sincere and direct the question, usually the more sincere and direct the answer.
