I started working with the I ching about four months ago
I have been struggling with the loss of a relationship that wounded me deeply.
My husband died almost nine years ago in a car accident. It took me seven years to get over that loss and then i met a man who was also a widower. His wife comited suicide and he was no where near healed from the event.
I helped him through his issues with his loss but he didn't feel he could stay with me
He felt that he needed to be with someone from his own culture and he went off looking for a new wife. At this point he is with her but i have heard their path is rocky. He has not married her as of yet.
My problem is I am still in love with him and I cannot seem to get him out of my heart.
I asked the i ching, " Will he ever come return to me?"

And i got this... Hexagram 50 third line changing to hexagram 18

Believe me it's not the first time i have asked
The i ching has been patient with me because i feel that although I am struggling with my pain. I see this as a transformation and a huge learning experience. Because although I lost the chance of being with him in life. I have gained a great deal. I started dancing and I am getting into my creative side to pull myself out of the sadness i experienced over the loss of this relationship. Still i wish i could be with him agian
For at this point he still very much a part of my soul. It seems all of the hexagrams i have gotten are positive. Any insight that could be shared over these hexagrams would be most helpful. Thank you.:bows:

Your answer suggests that he is currently stuck at the moment and unable or unwilling to make a change but once he comes to his senses then there is a good chance of him returning.

You need to reach out to him.

because:
50.3->64
and
50.4->18
the answers are very different

I checked the lines and I feel pretty sure that I didn't make a mistake...re
Today I was feeling that maybe this whole relationship has been bad for me as It had brought me down more than once
So i asked the I ching " If he tries to contact me agian should I be open to him?"
I got 60 second line changing to 19
The book i am using is pretty simplistic although i know that the line i got in the first and second hexagram is called, " an old yang line with the circle through it. "
Now if i am doing this all wrong then maybe the i ching is trying to tell me that he's an axe murderer and that i am really barking up the wrong tree....LOL
But that last reply seemed positive to me or maybe I am just hearing what i want to hear.

I think what Patro was trying to say (politely) is that there must have been a mistake, because 50:3 DOESN"T change into 18, therefore doing any reading on this basis will be misleading and meaningless. If you checked the lines and it was definitely 5:3, then the resulting hexagram is 64, so any research you do should be on that basis. As Patro says again, a VERY different reading. Also, I'm pretty sure that 60:2 doesn't change to 19 (surely it changes to 3, 60:5 changes to 19) so I'm a bit concerned with how you are doing your readings. Hilary has lots of resources on here about how to cast coins and do the basic reading, maybe you need to go back to basics? Actually I've just realised something, are you reading from the top down or the bottom up? Line two is the 2nd from the bottom, not the top, which may explain the problem...
