Will I get a permanent job this year?

In 2014 my job came to an end and I didn't have another one lined up. I have been making do by consulting since then but would love the financial security and salary that goes with a permanent job.

I got Hexagram 54.1.3 changing to 32. Seems like I am being improper in seeking a permanent job at this time and that I must accept my lowly status as a "marrying maiden" and not attempt to initiate anything. I am better off at this stage rendering my part time services as a consultant in a steadfast way that earn me some recognition. My consulting work is better than nothing although it means I am limping along financially. (Line 1)

I may subsequently make a small advance (Line 3) but it is not the status I am looking for (becoming a concubine rather than the wife I want to be). Interestingly I have negotiated a retainer fee with my one steady client which is supposed to come into effect in February (next month).

Hexagram 32 is apparently saying I must persevere with my consulting work for the duration.Any thoughts and comments would be much appreciated.

Hi Boadicea,

When I was looking for a permanent job years ago I found it impossible to get a straight answer to the question WHEN. Time and I Ching, ever a debate.
What I see is not much different from your take on this reading. Line 1 is basically saying that you're just about managing, at least getting by at the present moment. Line 3 is pointing out that you might have to accept a position that is lower than you would have hoped, either in salary or status, so I would keep an open mind about vacancies.

I think the best approach is to use the Yi to help you through the job search, rather than focus on time. Hope that helps.
