Thank you. It’s true that our relationship is very strong and we always been happy and supportive to each other. The current situation is complex and involves both of us. It’s about a life decision we need to make and it seems that we might have different options on this. Perhaps the fact that we are not entirely on the same page creates a bit of difficulty. The tension reminds me of 9. 9 is quite tense because the small farmer is in a precarious situation with no guarantee the weather will cooperate.
9.5 to 26 says to move from small farming to great farming you need a good partner. Not sure whether Yi's just stating a fact, or that your relationship is essentially sound despite current difficulties and you'll get past this. I think I'd lean towards optimism.
'With truth and confidence, hence bound together.
Rich in your neighbour.'
Dear Rosada, thank you.9.5 "Rich in your neighbor"
Think of your partner as a neighbor, someone who can be helpful but not someone whose ideas you should automatically surrender your life to.
26. says recognize the wisdom of those who have come before. Could mean something as dramatic as scheduling a few sessions with a marriage counselor to simply saying "good to know" (don't engage!) the next time your friend expresses a viewpoint different from your own.
The emphasis in 9. the single soul, and 26. the wise elders, suggests to me that you should look at your situation as a single person, rather than as part of a partnership, and look at what you are learning from all this.
I think so. 9.5 says you and your husband have truth and confidence, and that you're rich in your neighbor/husband.Did I understand your interpretation right?
Very clear. Much appreciated it. Now I understandI think so. 9.5 says you and your husband have truth and confidence, and that you're rich in your neighbor/husband.
There are a couple of other lines in the I Ching that say the opposite, "not rich in your neighbor," so this seems like an optimistic contrast.
11.4
'Fluttering, fluttering.
Not rich in your neighbours,
Not on guard against truth and confidence.'
15.5
'Not rich in your neighbour,
Fruitful to use this to invade and conquer.
Nothing that does not bear fruit.'
Thank you for your help and advice. It makes me very happyOne cannot make this answer into a negative - really it's a beautiful line signifying great generosity between people
'With truth and confidence, hence bound together.
Rich in your neighbour.'
So it emphasises you are bound together in truth and confidence and as you are married that is the ideal way to be.
So in answer to your question yes you can move on in harmony.
The relating hexagram is not an entirely separate thing from the primary. 26 is to do with stored resources held in reserve. Here 26 shows in 9.5 as truth and confidence and generosity coming forth from being held in reserve.
Many times I have experienced this line as great generosity from other people including close family members. Isn't it often the case we don't know how generous someone can be until our own resources are lacking? I think there's patience implicit in 9, one can't have everything all at once and so in harder times those close show their truth and confidence in you through generosity and caring.
