Hi all,

Just spoke to one of the Trustees for the organisation I work for, who told me that it's highly likely my job with them will come to a close by the end of July.

I don't like the job, but it's easy, I do it from home, and it supports me and my son - and my writing. I am soon to self-publish my first book, in which I very much believe, and I'm about to finish its sequel, which is even better (even if I say so myself), but am of course yet to make any money. The very thought of going out there looking for more "meaningless" jobs (dear reader, I had a few), fills me with utter dread.

So I got off the phone and asked: My work situation?

Yi came up with hexagram 30.

I never really understood this hexagram, and would appreciate your insight into it, particularly with regard to my current situation, and the question posed.

Thank you,

Grace

Right now your job is unrelated to your writing. I think the 30 is a suggestion that you bring the different elements of your life more into synergistic accord, so that everything works together better. Additionally, good luck with your first book!

Hi grace heart.

30: Perseverence furthers. Keep on shining.

Whether you can find another job within this organisation or have to seek income elsewhere,
Remain bright and shining.

There are times we each experience where we aren't doing what exactly what we wish,
But doing what we must to persevere.
('Mundane' things: gathering nuts and berries, cleaning doggy doo off our shoe..etc)
If we can persevere and maintain our brightness internally (in our heart) and externally (in our deeds)
we will be ready to shine when our 'ideal situations' present themselves,
Because we Never Stopped Shining.

Im reminded of the lyrics of a song,
"I'll keep my eyes fixed on the sun, even on a cloudy day"
or in your case "I'll be like the sun, that continues to shine, no matter what the clouds are doing."

:bows:

Based only on what you've told us in your post, it sounds to me like an official of your company told you your job will end at the end of July, and when you asked Yi about it, Yi said, "30 - Clarity." I think Yi is giving you a very simple message - that you were given clarity about the situation and you should heed it.

The Trustee did say "highly likely," rather than "definitely," but my guess is that was a meaningless pro forma phrase - he was hiding a bit behind some polite words. But his point seems clear, unfortunately :(.

Of course, you can work with the I Ching on how best to proceed from here. The good news, meager as it is , is that you have some time.

I'm sorry this is happening. I hope things go as smoothly as these things can go (which I realize isn't very).

My work situation?
30 unchanging

The very thought of going out there looking for more "meaningless" jobs (dear reader, I had a few), fills me with utter dread.

What would you consider to be a meaningful job? Isn't that the point on which you need clarity?

Along the lines of this post (your reading was one of the ones I was thinking about), maybe another option is something like this, where 30uc is the opening word on the subject:

You: "My work situation?"
Yi: "Step 1 - you have clarity. Step 2 - _____?"
